Goodwill customer finds an unusual pair of boots in the donation bins. Then she starts connecting the dots: ‘not the diarrhea boots’
Thrift stores can be full of surprises. Something that looks strange at first can turn out to be a much more interesting find once you take a closer look.
That is especially true at the Goodwill bins, where shoppers never really know what they might find. Some walk away with valuable items, while others discover things that are memorable for completely different reasons.
TikToker Lexi (@lexilex338) recently spotted an unusual pair of boots while searching through the Goodwill bins. At first, the brown marks on them gave her a pretty unpleasant idea. Then she took another look and realized why the boots seemed so familiar.
You really had to look twice
In the video, Lexi holds up a pair of tall white boots covered in brown marks. “I originally thought someone had diarrhea in it…” she admits. After looking at them again, however, she realizes they resemble the boots worn in the 2004 comedy White Chicks.
“Why did I just find THE White Chicks boots at Goodwill bins??” Lexi wrote in the caption. After recognizing what she had found, she added, “Not the diarrhea boots in the wild at the Goodwill Bins.” There is no evidence that the pair is an actual prop from the movie. Instead, its resemblance to the boots from White Chicks is what caught her attention.
The boots are recognizable because they are tied to one of White Chicks’ most memorable scenes. In the movie, Kevin Copeland, played by Shawn Wayans, is disguised as Brittany Wilson when Latrell Spencer, played by Terry Crews, takes her shopping. Latrell struggles to pull a pair of tight boots onto Brittany’s feet, turning what should be an ordinary shopping trip into one of the film’s physical-comedy moments.
That scene has remained recognizable to fans years after the movie’s release, which helps explain why viewers immediately understood Lexi’s comparison. The boots themselves are not necessarily valuable or rare. It is the connection to a movie people still quote and reference more than two decades later that made the Goodwill find entertaining.
Of course, digging through the bins can occasionally produce something with actual monetary value too. One shopper even found a Rolex tucked inside a pair of Goodwill boots, which is a pretty good argument for checking thrifted footwear carefully before walking away.
Lexi’s discovery had viewers impressed for a different reason. “HOW do you even recognize something like this,” one person asked. Another summed up her ability to make the connection with, “holy pattern recognition.”
Others admitted they had the same initial confusion about what they were seeing. “I was like ‘Diarrhea boots?!’ Until you showed the clip,” one viewer commented. Someone else joked, “Lactose Intolerance boots,” while another wrote, “Diarrhea boots is crazy I’m cracking up.”
Once the White Chicks connection became clear, the biggest question was whether Lexi actually bought them. “You better have bought them,” one person wrote. Another demanded, “WHY DIDN’T U BUY THEM,” while someone else pleaded, “PLEASE TELL ME YOU BOUGHT THOSE.”
That reaction is part of the gamble of leaving an unusual thrift-store find behind. Goodwill shoppers can stumble across something completely unexpected, whether it is a recognizable movie look or a mysterious case hiding a surprisingly expensive item.
Whether Lexi’s boots were worth buying is another question. But viewers clearly thought the White Chicks connection alone made them difficult to leave behind. After all, once the comments started calling them the “diarrhea boots,” the Goodwill find had already become memorable for an entirely different reason.
