She Arrives at Applebee’s for $1 Margaritas. Then They Damaged Her ID After ‘Authenticity Check’ Created a Massive Problem
The most memorable Applebee's margarita trip of the year

A woman went to Applebee’s for cheap margaritas and then it turned into a nightmare when her ID ended up damaged. A TikTok user named Sophia (@sophia_attardi) decided to give the Internet an update on what went down with the restaurant. She’s from Tennessee but ended up having a nightmare ordeal in a New Jersey Applebee’s location. Sophia said that she stopped in for dollar drinks with her friends, and there wasn’t an issue with their IDs at the start of the visit. But, things quickly changed when a manager asked to see their cards.
Sophia’s account mentions the manager disappearing with her entire group’s identification for about 15 minutes. But, then things went left for the table. Their IDs were returned in different shape than when they got handed over. Sophia noticed a crease in her Tennessee card, specifically. The manager said “So, actually, we can’t accept these, okay?” Of course, the women wanted to know why their identification was damaged. And, the Applebee’s manager replied, “I was just bending it to see if it was real, girl.”
2.6 million people ended up seeing her first video about the situation. And, now the audience got their update. But, Sophia isn’t pushing for anything drastic from the restaurant chain. Even though, the entire experience ended up being bizarre.
What did Applebee’s do about the ID?
Well, when Sophia complained to the management, the Applebee’s allegedly offered $30 and comped the drinks they already consumed. The poster says that she accepted their offer, but things got worse for her when she realized what she would have to do to replace the ID. Tennessee’s DMV told Sophia she would have to go get another card in-person. In effect, a 13-hour drive from where the TikTok user was in New Jersey.
The plot thickened when Sophia told her followers what the manager said caused the problem in the first place. Supposedly, the Applebee’s worker was skeptical of her friend’s ID from New York. But, Sophia wondered, “If that’s true, then why is, like, none of it made any f****** sense?” This led to some other customers sharing their experience as well.
A commenter named Kamryn said, “Applebees took my military ID to the back, without asking she just walked off with it, and then denied me service saying they have never seen one before.” In addition, tons of the people watching the video asked Sophia to go get her legal representation because of the unnecessary expense. But, the poster said that Applebee’s has not contacted her directly. And, she thinks legal action against the chain sounds like “a lot to be honest.” In the end, that margarita ended up costing way more than $1.
