Black business owner says he fired all of his white employees, then advises other Black owners to do the same: ’Segregation might be the way’

He said he was going to "punish the whole town."

Racism is an issue that continues to divide and harm people from various communities, and it shows no signs of disappearing any time soon. But one Black business owner claimed he took matters into his own hands by firing all of his white employees after allegedly facing ongoing racial harassment from members of his town.

“As a Black business owner, I just flexed my power against white supremacists,” @fatheracab told viewers in a video shared on TikTok. According to the business owner, he lives in Roseburg, Oregon, a place that he describes as a sundown town.

While living in Roseburg, Fatheracab claimed that he and his family were repeatedly harassed by a white supremacist, an ordeal that, according to him, was known to the local sheriff, yet nothing was done. He later described the white supremacist as someone unemployed and living off his Social Security and his grandparents.

Black business owner says he will only hire non-white people

On the other hand, Fatheracab said his fellow residents have “maintained the system of white supremacy.” But it came to a point where he had had enough of the alleged racism, and claimed that as a result, he was “going to punish the whole town” and fired all 20 people in his employ, all of whom were getting paid more than $25 an hour. “If your area needs jobs and I’m paying people $25 or more an hour, then protect that person,” he wrote on-screen.

While many might be offended by suddenly being let go from a job, Fatheracab claimed his former employees weren’t upset with him. Instead, he said their frustration is directed more at the local sheriff and the courts. As Fatheracab did not name his business in the video, his claims cannot be independently verified.

Fatheracab also told viewers that he planned to move his business operations to California instead, where he says his talents would be appreciated. But this time, he intends to employ exclusively non-white people and encourages other Black business owners to fire their white employees as well. “I think segregation might be the way,” he added in his caption.

Discrimination in the workplace is illegal

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Roseburg is a predominantly white city, with 84.7% of its 23,693 residents identifying as white as of July 2025. In contrast, only 0.2% of the population was Black.

Although Fatheracab’s frustrations with racism are understandable, his decision to fire employees based on race raises questions about the legality of his actions. While Oregon is an at-will state, which means an employer or employee can terminate their working relationship at any time and for any or no reason, discrimination laws override such employment rules.

Under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, individuals are protected from being terminated or unfairly treated in their employment based on race, color, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, nationality, marital status, religion, age, and disability. Oregon itself has its own state laws regarding workplace discrimination and has greater protections than those offered under federal law.

If Fatheracab’s claims about the incident are accurate, his video could place him at risk of being held liable under Title VII, which applies to employers with more than 15 employees. On the other hand, Oregon’s anti-discrimination laws apply to businesses with a minimum of one employee. It remains unclear if his video could potentially affect his future business as well.
