The BBC Wants You to Make Your Doctor Who Fan Fic a Reality

Provided it has to do with Daleks and Capaldi.

The BBC has initiated “Mission Dalek,” a Doctor Who competition that encourages fans to not only write but produce their own Doctor Who story featuring Daleks—and they’ve got the materials to help you succeed.

All you have to do is use the Doctor’s 2000-year diary as a point of inspiration for your story of where the Doctor’s been in the meantime, and tell your story in any digital form including video, animation, or artwork. If you need supplemental footage—say you’re having trouble getting footage of a Dalek without being exterminated—they’ve got you covered with official clips and images, but the rest is all up to your imagination.

Even if you’re not interested in this particular contest or live outside the UK in the dark, joyless lands where you can’t win a Doctor Who set visit for your creation, you can still do it for fun and check out the BBC’s tip videos for making your creation. They feature writing, directing, VFX tips and more from the people who work on Doctor Who—including director Rachel Talalay!

If you’re in the UK and can win the prize, don’t forget to take a peek at the full rules and get cracking! You’ve got a lot to do and only all of time and space to do it.
