Miyamoto Lets Slip: Pikmin 3 “Well Under Way”

Just before accepting his British Academy of Film and Television Arts Fellowship yesterday, Shigeru Miyamoto was caught mentioning everybody’s favorite onion people by the Official Nintendo Magazine.  From their Twitter:

ONM is at the BAFTAs! Miyamoto just told us Pikmin 3 development is “well under way”.

Considering that we’ve already been told that Mario Galaxy 2, Metroid: Other M, and a new Zelda game are coming out this year, I’d be surprised if we saw a new Pikmin before 2011.  The original Pikmin has been ported to the Wii, to take advantage of the Wiimote’s point-and-click capabilities in its RTS-like gameplay.  It’ll be nice to see an even more advanced version of the game do even more with the console.
