7-Weeks Pregnant Woman From Las Vegas Visits a Male Gynecologist. He Allegedly Makes an Unnecessary Comment and Conducts a Disturbing Exam
She says her gynecologist got a little too involved during her ultrasound.
Finding the right gynecologist is a difficult task as for obvious reasons it’s a job that requires sensitivity and trust. However, Dessy (@dessy_talks) from Las Vegas alleged that the male gynecologist she went to had been inappropriate with her during her prenatal screening.
“I do side-eye male gynecologists,” Dessy told TikTok. She said that back then, she didn’t see an issue with male gynecologists until her supposed “creepy” experience with one. Dessy explained that although she already had her first child, she was still looking for a gynecologist to consult. Her period got stronger, so she knew she had to visit the doctor.
“I have seen reviews online. Everybody said that they were great,” she said. It was an undisclosed office building that had many reputable gynecologists. Dessy booked an appointment with an unnamed male gynecologist. But before her appointment even came up, she found out she was pregnant.
“Technically, the fetus was only five weeks old,” she recalled. Dessy acknowledged that they might not be able to do much for her because she was at the early stages, but she didn’t cancel her appointment. Instead, she decided to turn the appointment into a prenatal checkup.
“On the elevator ride up to the floor that the doctor’s on, I’m seeing these ads in the elevator that’s for the gynecologist I’m going to,” Dessy said. She claimed that the flyers on the wall weren’t about women’s health, but for vaginal cosmetic surgery. She found it strange and said that the ads were worded in a sexually suggestive manner.
But she continued and stepped out of the elevator. She told the nurse that her appointment was for her heavy period and disclosed that she was pregnant. The nurse replied, saying that the doctor recently decided to stop taking prenatal appointments.
She met with the male gynecologist anyway
Dessy said she felt confused. She gave birth to her daughter in the same hospital, so she clarified the situation with the nurse. Apparently, there was another gynecologist’s office in the building that focuses on reproductive health and prenatal care. Nevertheless, Dessy decided to leave because she failed to check. But the nurse told her to stay put and asked the doctor if he would see Dessy.
The doctor allegedly met with Dessy. Although he disclosed that he no longer did prenatal checkups, he decided to see her anyway. He supposedly took her to another room and asked her to sit on the stirrups. Because she wasn’t far along, Dessy thought the gynecologist would try to use a Doppler to locate a heartbeat or give her a pregnancy test. Instead, the doctor allegedly conducted an internal ultrasound on Dessy.
An internal ultrasound, otherwise known as a transvaginal ultrasound, is often used to detect an early pregnancy. But unlike a pelvic ultrasound, the former involves inserting f a probe for a more detailed view of the reproductive organs. Needless to say, it’s an imaging method that’s way more invasive than a period-detecting airport scanner. The test, however, wasn’t what Dessy found to be entirely strange about the whole session.
The doctor had a lot to say
“He lifts the bed up all the way so that my cooter is eye-level with him,” she said. Dessy explained that when the transvaginal ultrasound is done, doctors often only take a peek. They would have a blanket on the patient, and their eyes would be trained on the screen.
“This man? Yeah, he had a blanket on me, but he had his head under the blanket,” Dessy further alleged. She said she felt embarrassed by the ordeal. To make matters worse, Dessy recalled that she felt like she had to go to the bathroom and poop. She was worried, thinking the doctor could see the poop in her body.
“He’s a professional. He sees this type of thing every day. Don’t overthink it,” Dessy said. She was trying to self-soothe, but then the doctor allegedly made an inappropriate comment.
“Wow, you really have to go to the bathroom, don’t you?” the doctor allegedly jabbed. As he was doing the ultrasound, Dessy said he couldn’t find the fetus which, again, didn’t come as a surprise to her because she was early in her pregnancy. The gynecologist eventually finished with the ultrasound, but Dessy alleged he made yet another disparaging remark.
“I couldn’t find the baby, and I couldn’t find the heartbeat. But it is pretty early, so the baby might be fine, or you might’ve had a miscarriage. It’s like a fifty-fifty chance,” the doctor allegedly said. Dessy said she informed the doctor that she wanted to keep this baby, which made the comment offensive.
“He literally did that so he could see and touch my cooter,” Dessy alleged, finding the ultrasound unnecessary to begin with. But Dessy’s not the only one who’s had a bad day at the OBGYN. Another woman from New York went in for a checkup, only to come out thinking she had a horror-movie-level cyst inside her body.
It should also be said that paranoia about male gynecologists may not be justified, as one woman found out to her surprise.
