The Trump Administration Is Beefing With The Weather Channel Now

Most of the United States is celebrating in one form or fashion. But, The White House was busy beefing with The Weather Channel this weekend.
Down in Washington, D.C., the Donald Trump administration tried to celebrate America’s 250th Anniversary with the UFC Freedom 250 fights on The White House lawn. There’s been a ton of digital ink spilled about that spectacle.
One problem, it looked like the entire celebration was up in the air after inclement weather reared its ugly head. The Weather Channel did its job in that regard and reported that things could get thrown off course by lightning or other storm-like activity. As weather reports do.
But, as is often the case in Trumpland, they can’t let reality get in the way of a good time for the base. So, the nation’s rapid response account decided to lash out at The Weather Channel for literally doing their jobs. This is how the country’s governance functions in 2026.
On social media, Rapid Response 47 wrote, “This event is about celebrating America’s unmatched greatness after 200 50 years – which apparently doesn’t sit well with the friendless loser who wrote this **** clickbait headline. Rain or shine, we’re accelerating our great country no matter what. GOD BLESS AMERICA!”
Not the type of response you would expect from an official government account. But if you look around since the start of the second Trump administration, this has been the operating model for most of them. Multiple people were dismayed in the comments.
Especially when you think about the fact that the Weather Channels original post was so tame!
The White House takes aim at The Weather Channel

As we mentioned, the initial post from The Weather Channel is about as tame as you’ll find. America 250 has drawn criticism from multiple coroners as there are numerous issues plaguing the country at this moment.
A nascent affordability crisis coming from tariffs, the transportation situation on the ground, and general unrest due to the administration’s stance on immigration have all been popular stories headed into this summer.
Let’s also just forget that the literal World Cup is going on. And, the United States of America is one of the host countries! So, there’s plenty of things for leadership to be focused on that aren’t dirtbikes doing stunts in front of Monster Energy billboards at The White House. (Yes, that’s real people!)
Still, here’s The Weather Channel trying to do their jobs: “UFC Freedom 250 is facing a chaotic weather setup on the White House South Lawn, with a 60% chance of thunderstorms, heavy downpours, and wind gusts up to 34 mph threatening to delay the outdoor fights,” the network posted.
“On top of the storm risk, brutal D.C. humidity is driving a triple-digit heat index alongside massive swarms of mosquitos and gnats that fighters will have to battle inside the cage,” they continued. “While the venue’s massive 92-foot overhang will keep the octagon dry, a single lightning strike within eight miles will trigger an automatic 30-minute freeze on the entire event.”
Did the UFC Freedom 250 Happen?
We live in uncertain times and the Weather Channel was partially right. There was a weather delay during the event. Even if the weather was worse, the White House probably would have figured out some way to go through with it. There’s been a lot of money spent on this event. Even more pressing, is the fact that the administration constructed a giant stage on the White House lawn for this event. All of that is to say, rain or shine they did try to make UFC Freedom 250 happen. Was it successful or not? That’s for people who cared to tune in to comment on.
It’s summertime in Washington DC, and that means unpredictable weather. The only thing for certain is that the sky doesn’t care about the best-laid plans of the people living inside of the White House.
