TikTok user Pres (@presleighstewart), in a video uploaded to her account, says she believes fat shaming isn’t okay, especially when the person is nice. But in her case, she felt she had no other option. Regarding the incident, Pres explains that a woman left a comment on one of her TikToks, which prompted her to respond and say something back, something she believes many people would have an “issue” with.

Pres Name-Called Someone Because They Did it First

The poster mentioned that in one of her “controversial” TikTok videos, a woman who didn’t like her took a screenshot of her face from another video and posted it, claiming she was ugly. Pres said the comment upset her, so she clicked on the woman’s profile and saw that she was “fat.” She allegedly took a screenshot of the woman’s face and responded to her comment on Pres’s post with the picture, saying, “You’re fat though.”

About the incident, Pres said that some people might think her calling the woman fat was an “issue,” but since her face was part of her body, she was body-shaming her as well. “I believe in bullying your bullies back,” she stated. Pres also argued that the woman crossed a bigger line by calling her ugly because, according to Pres, no one can change their looks as easily as their weight.

People in the Comments Section of Pres’s Video Showed Their Support

Among the thousands of people who commented on her post, some have extended their support for Pres, reaffirming that she isn’t wrong to have called the woman fat in retaliation for calling her ugly.

If you can dish it out then you also need to be able to take it. But also you’re not ugly lol.” User @that_drunk._.betch remarked, “As a fat person keep it up honestly it’s gave me more motivation then anything we can’t judge other people and expect not to be judged like come on.”

Some Harmful Effects Body Shaming Can Have on an Obese Person

According to Healthline, while many believe that calling someone fat or criticizing their weight will motivate them to lose weight and adopt a “healthier” lifestyle, this is often not true. People who fat-shame others by criticizing or harassing them for their weight can cause significant harm.

Fat-shaming can increase a person’s risk of developing depression and other mental health issues. Those discriminated against because of their weight are at a higher risk of developing eating disorders such as binge eating, starvation, or both.

A quick reaction to persistent fat shaming is a decrease in self-esteem. Fatshaming can also increase the risk of developing various chronic illnesses due to ongoing mental health challenges and other related effects.
