In a Cursed Sentence: Jonathan Majors’ Hollywood Turn to the Daily Wire Is Boycotted in South Carolina

Jonathan Majors as Kang the Conqueror in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania

Jonathan Majors’ Hollywood “return attempt” down in South Carolina is being boycotted. The former Marvel star linked up with The Daily Wire for their latest project and it’s about as dire as it sounds friends.

Bonfire Legend is the name of the action movie that Majors is producing with Ben Shapiro’s company. IATSE authorized a strike against the production in Gaffney, South Carolina according to Deadline. Last week, the union crew decided they had enough and walked off the job.

Apparently, there are some alleged labor issues to contend with on the set of Bonfire Legend. The Daily Wire is currently looking to replace the crew on strike period of course, union members are being discouraged from taking those jobs.

To be real, why anyone would take that gig as an IATSE member and risk their future status in the union is beyond me. But, some folks just see the dollar signs. To say nothing of the alleged work environment. Still, the conservative company is plowing forward with the production. The Daily Wire gave a statement to Deadline about how they weren’t going to be deterred by something as “silly” as a labor strike. Sounds about par for the course.

Dallas Sonnier, a producer on the film, had some completely expected words for Deadline. “We are too busy being bad asses, blowing sh*t up, flying helicopters, and killing movie terrorists to concern ourselves with four assholes with signs on the sidewalk and their illegitimate ‘strike.’”

We’ll keep you updated if anything changes with the status of this really random project. You have to believe we’re not done here yet.

Jonathan Majors’ Hollywood comeback already being boycotted

Jonathan Majors surrounded by the press

It’s been an interesting week in the world of “cancel culture.” As people spent years railing on how it was unfair or too punitive, we’ve seen multiple “bad men” outright rewarded. Kanye West just hosted a 60,000 person concert in Los Angeles. Louis C.K. is headlining Netflix Is A Joke at the Hollywood Bowl. Oh, and for the ladies, we’ve got J.K. Rowling tuning up the band on an unnecessary Harry Potter reboot. And, that’s just the last two weeks, friends.

Majors is looking at the landscape and probably believing he has a chance at a “comeback story.” But really, how much did his own actions really hurt him? He’s still getting paid to make movies. Magazine Dreams ended up coming out. And, at the rate we’re going, he could complete a full comeback despite never really atoning fully for the abuse he was convicted of. It’s a strange world we live in.

What does his future look like?

Now, by aligning himself with ethically dubious people, (That’s a very charitable reading of Ben Shapiro and his outfit,) Majors looks to get an elbow back on the big table. But, he should know that everything is super fragile. Just because other known abusers have come out of the woodwork the second the administration changed, doesn’t mean it’s going to work for him. Perhaps it might. But, I’m not holding my breath. In fact, it’s sad to think about how his choices and actions have hurt so many.

Before all of this, Majors was one of Hollywood’s brightest rising stars. It feels like a million years ago now. There’s no crying over the past now. He would probably be better served taking even more time to work on himself. But, hey there’s action movies to make where the crew is fed up enough to strike instead.
