Server Catches a Group of Prom-Ready Teenagers Attempting $400 Dine and Dash. Then She Called the Police and Parents: ‘Tip was Fat’

Prom night is supposed to be a memorable event defined by corsages, formal wear, and pre-dance dinners with friends. But for a group of dressed-up high schoolers, an attempt to allegedly pull off a restaurant dine and dash turned their big night into a face-off with the police and their parents.
In a viral TikTok video sitting at nearly 670,000 views, server Ace (@dear.ace) broke down how she caught a table of teenagers red-handed during a dinner shift. They started as an overly polite table racking up an expensive tab. But the situation quickly devolved into a failed escape plan. Per Ace, the alleged incident left six teenagers grounded before prom even started.
A Table of Dressed-up High Schoolers Attempted a Strategic Dine and Dash
The ordeal began when a group of teenagers dressed in formals sat down at Ace’s table during prom season. The party proceeded to order fancy mocktails, appetizers, and the most expensive entrees on the menu. They eventually placed two back-to-back rounds of desserts.
While waiting for their second dessert order to arrive, the group allegedly initiated a sneaky exit strategy. One by one, the teenagers slipped away toward the restroom area until only a single couple remained at the table.
When Ace confronted the remaining couple about where their friends went, they allegedly claimed the group was just using the bathroom. Knowing the layout of her restaurant, Ace immediately shut down the lie. “I just came from there and there’s not an entire crowd of teenagers in there… I don’t really see anybody wearing prom dresses other than you guys.”

Left with zero excuses, the couple was given a firm ultimatum by the server. Ace asked them to either call their friends back inside to pay the $400 tab, or explain the situation to responding police officers and their parents.
Ace said that because the teenagers had carpooled together, the friends who ran out first were stranded in the parking lot. They were allegedly waiting for the final couple to exit. So, the entire group was caught right outside the venue when law enforcement arrived.
According to Ace, police and parents were called to the scene immediately. Their involvement also allegedly canceled prom night for at least six of the teenagers involved.

If someone order $400 worth of expensive items with zero intention of paying, it isn’t an innocent juvenile mistake. It’s accounted as theft. Enforcing strict consequences alongside law enforcement ensures young diners understand that staff labor and menu inventory carry actual accountability.
Parents Stepped up to Cover the $400 Bill and a Massive Tip
Reflecting on the drama as the parents arrived at the restaurant, Ace noted that while the kids’ night was officially ruined, the adults handled the fallout responsibly.
Overhearing the stern parental lectures unfolding in the dining room, Ace claimed that the embarrassed guardians made sure every penny of the $400 bill was settled on the spot. “Let’s just say those parents made sure that that tip was fat,” Ace shared in her final debrief.
