‘They all have to go’: The Iran war blew up in Donald Trump’s face, so now he’s backstabbing his most loyal allies

It’s no secret that United States President Donald Trump makes decisions based on the advice of his loyal supporters. If you haven’t realised it yet, some of these individuals include Pete Hegseth, Marco Rubio, Stephen Miller, Mike Johnson, and Howard Lutnick. There are others as well, but recently, these have been the main figures influencing Trump’s actions.
Donald Trump has faced intense scrutiny from Americans over his decision to attack Iran by partnering with Israel. Most of the country’s people believe that this move was unnecessary and simply endangers the United States, and they are not wrong. The US may hold an advantage in its conflict with Iran, as it was the first to strike and, as a developed nation, has access to many resources that give it an upper hand in such situations. However, that does not mean Iran won’t retaliate. The Middle Eastern country has already begun bombing US bases, and it’s only a matter of time before they directly target the US. That said, amid all this chaos, as the world burns, Trump has not taken any responsibility and mostly insists that his decisions on this matter are correct. He has been boasting about his actions in Iran for several days, but recently, he appears to have shifted his stance. But he is not taking responsibility. Instead, he is blaming his friends Pete Hegseth, Jared Kushner, Marco Rubio, and others.
Donald Trump throws his allies under the bus to save face in the Iran debacle
The pressure from the American people regarding the US’s war on Iran seems to have affected Donald Trump. In recent days, whenever he has given interviews or discussed Iran on other occasions, he has been acting very defensive, which stems from a deep fear. He showed similar behaviour during his March 9, 2026, press conference as well.
In a specific part of the event where Trump talks about Iran, he says the reason the US attacked Iran was that he and other members of the Trump administration believed Iran was about to attack the US. Describing the situation, Trump said, “The situation was very quickly approaching the point of no return, and the United States found it intolerable, in my opinion, based on what Steve and Jared, Pete and others were telling me, Marco so involved that I thought that they were gonna attack us… If we didn’t do this at the time we did it, I think they had in mind to attack us.”
Karoline Leavitt defends Trump over Iran Tomahawk comments
In the last few days, there has been significant chatter about the US allegedly bombing an elementary school in Iran, leading to the deaths of more than 150 people, most of whom were children. While initially there were no reports confirming the source of the bombing, the New York Times, in an article published on March 8, 2026, established that the Tomahawk missile that struck the elementary school and killed hundreds was indeed dropped by the US. The article and the evidence it provided directly contradict Trump’s claims, as he previously stated that Iran was responsible for dropping the bomb.
Now that the truth is out, people within the Trump administration are still saying the investigations are ongoing and that people shouldn’t reach conclusions based on sources outside the government. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt is among those who hold this opinion. During her March 10, 2026, press briefing, when she was asked why Trump said that Iran had dropped a Tomahawk on an elementary school in its own country, when only three other US entities possessed the missiles besides the US itself, Leavitt replied, “As the president said yesterday, he will accept the conclusion of this investigation by the Department of War. I know there has been a lot of speculation in the media about who may be responsible for this. We are not going to get ahead of the Department of War and the conclusion of that investigation.” Additionally, she said that Trump, as the president, has the “right to share his opinions with the public” and also mentioned that he has said he will accept the conclusion of the investigation.
