Philly woman walks into Chanel after saving for something special. Then an employee judges her immediately and tells her to leave: ‘All my hard work’

Walking into a luxury store does not mean someone has already decided to spend thousands of dollars. Customers are allowed to look around, ask questions, and decide whether something is worth their money. One woman says she barely got that chance when she visited Chanel.
TikTok creator Morgan (@morgan_hilton) says she had recently started working full time and wanted to reward herself around Christmas. With fewer major expenses while living with family, she finally had some money she could spend on herself after months of work.
She was not promising Chanel a sale when she walked through the door. But she says she had her eye on a pair of shoes and was interested enough to visit a store in New Jersey. What allegedly happened after she entered made her question whether she wanted to give the brand her money at all.
But the visit quickly became something else
Morgan shared her experience after seeing a video about another shopper allegedly being judged while visiting a Chanel boutique. She says it reminded her of what happened when she decided to visit the luxury retailer herself.
At the time, Morgan says she had been working full time for about six months and was living with family, meaning she was not spending much money on rent. When Christmas arrived, she decided she wanted to use some of what she had earned to buy herself something nice. “All my hard work, reward myself a little bit,” she recalls thinking.
Morgan makes it clear that she had not definitely decided to buy something from Chanel. However, she says she had been interested in a particular pair of shoes before entering the store. That interest apparently did not matter to the employee who greeted her.
Morgan claims she was met with a “horrible attitude” and felt employees did not take her seriously from the beginning. She believes her age and appearance may have influenced how she was treated. “I understand I look young, but she literally dismissed me so fast,” Morgan says.
She claims an employee then told her, “If you’re not here to buy something, you need to get out of the store.” Morgan says the reaction was particularly frustrating because the store was not crowded. According to her, nobody else was browsing at the time, and the employee did not appear to be dealing with a busy store.
“There was nobody else in the store,” she says. “It wasn’t chaotic or anything.”
Morgan says she eventually left angry about how quickly she felt she had been judged. The experience also changed the way she viewed a brand whose products she had previously liked. “How could I ever want to buy something from this brand?” she recalls thinking.
Morgan’s experience also follows other luxury shopping complaints from customers who say they felt judged or disappointed by high-end retailers. One woman previously said a Cartier employee appeared to judge her based on her appearance before realizing she was there to buy a gift, while another Chanel shopper shared frustration over a ring exchange that she said did not go as smoothly as expected.
Several commenters claimed they had encountered similar treatment while shopping at luxury retailers. “I always buy Chanel at a store like Neiman Marcus customer service is so much better,” one viewer wrote.
Another commenter said Gucci employees were rude when she visited after graduating from medical school to buy a push present. She said she was dressed casually at the time.
“Do not judge a book by its cover,” she wrote. “The employees at these ‘luxury’ stores can be very judgmental and rude sometimes.”
Morgan’s account of the interaction has not been independently verified. Chanel has not publicly responded to her claims.
