Club Chalamet’s Jump to Connor Storrie Isn’t Cute. Stop Following Her!

We’re all guilty of falling into a fandom rabbit hole. After all, who among us hasn’t been scrolling through a juicy pop culture thread on the FauxMoi subreddit only to see it’s 3am? But the line between that and obsession is, actually, quite a thick one. Yet it’s one that Club Chalamet has sprinted past.
According to the person behind the stan account, Simone Cromer, Club Chalamet was first started in 2018 to boost the actor’s Oscar chances. Thanks to its relentless posting and some snarky (and generally creepy) remarks about Chalamet’s relationship with Kylie Jenner, the account has been splashed all over the internet since around 2023, including in a strange WSJ profile of Cromer that’s indicative of the paper’s journalistic quality since the Jeff Bezos takeover.
However, Cromer’s on and offline behavior has raised a number of red flags, and in recent months the internet’s curious fascination has morphed into a wider conversation about the dangers of parasocial relationships, and what can happen when those on the non-famous end of them are given a taste of the spotlight.
She’s moving on…
Cromer’s most recent shift has been to create a new fan account for breakout Heated Rivalry star Connor Storrie. It’s telling that this has happened when rumors are swirling about a Chalamet/Jenner engagement, especially given that her Chalamet activity coincided with the marriage of her former obsession, Michael Fassbender. This new turn is making a number of people uncomfortable.
Part of this is because Cromer was born in 1966, and her obsessive and seemingly lustful posting for someone young enough to be her grandson is problematic. She claims criticisms of her are based on ageism, sexism, and racism, but there is just something very unnerving about her embracing of the poisonous elements of fan culture, and the way she has been elevated because of it. It doesn’t help that her content can be inflammatory.
Beyond the parasocial mess, Cromer has posted about a number of controversial topics. These include support for Kevin Spacey, anti-trans posts, and anti-Palestinian sentiment. She’s also been spotted at several Chalamet events and has commented extensively on his potential sex life, although she claims not to see him as a sex object.
Perhaps Cromer really does have nothing but appropriate love for Chalamet and now Storrie. But one thing we do know is that she’ll be posting relentlessly, for better or for worse — although maybe it is better for her if we all stop paying attention.
