John Oliver has been busy during Last Week Tonight’s break, making headlines for his interview with Dustin Hoffman and voicing Zazu in the upcoming re-telling of The Lion King. That doesn’t mean, however, that he’s not as plugged into the outrageous news as you are.
A new trailer for Last Week Tonight with John Oliver features the host on his phone marveling and reacting to news stories that we’ll very likely see within the year from, “ISIS won Powerball” to “Where are kittens even getting opioids?” to “Oooooh, he did the accent. It’s much more racist if he did the accent.”
The final episode of the last season featured the host going through the patterns and tactics that Trump and Trump supporters use to distract or dismiss important issues and questions. It remains as relevant now as it did then, and we can’t wait to see Oliver come back to share the show’s in-depth stories and hilarious, thoughtful outlook. Oh, and the general feuds with everyone from Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov to CEO of Murray Energy Corporation Bob Murray.
