Allow Us To Explain Look, we're geeks. We can't help but see geeky references in everything. So while people like Hugh Jackman may star in many different iconic roles, we'll always call him Wolverine. So you can imagine where our imaginations take us when we watch a show like the Academy Awards.
Runners up for this list include Harry Potter missing the opportunity to stake Bella with his wand, James T. Kirk and Uhura standing next to each other, and the Joker introducing the First Lady of the United States. Those were all somewhat geeky moments but nothing to write home about. These 7, on the other hand...

One For The Theater Geeks We were told from the get-go last night's Oscars were a tribute to music in film but I'm not sure non-music nerds really knew what they were in for. While the Academy was a little heavy-handed with their Chicago love, it was truly an outting of the theater kids on Twitter (myself included) when Catherine Zeta Jones did a recreation of her 10-year-old performance. And then of course there was the entire cast of Les Miserables taking the stage and singing/dancing happening every 15 minutes or so.

The Avengers Sort Of Reunited We were told the cast of The Avengers were going to present an award and the lost it when we realized Black Widow wasn't there. And then felt really bad when we realized we forgot Thor. However, after watching their awkward presentation, we bet Scarlett Johansson and Chris Hemsworth were thankful they had prior obligations.

Daredevil Wins Not only did Ben Affleck get to accept an award for Best Film, he won the award for Best Film which featured the story of Jack Kirby art. (They didn't use his actual art in the film but he was referenced in the credits.)

Mystique Gets A Helping Hand From Wolverine Jennifer Lawrence tripped while heading to the stage to accept the Best Actress award (which is such a Jennifer Lawrence thing to do) and no less than three men ran to her rescue. One of them being Wolverine. Now I'm hoping they reference this somehow in X-Men: Days of Future Past. "I helped you once, Raven, I won't make the same mistake again..."

Captain Kirk Arrives From The Future Did anyone expect Captain Kirk to drop down from the ceiling last night? Because I sure didn't. William Shatner may overstayed his welcome in this overall bizarre skit but damn if the Trekker in me wasn't giddy about him being included.
