New Baby Room Idea: The ABCs of Spaceships

I’m trying to think of a favorite spaceship that isn’t on this list, but all I’m coming up with is Moya from Farscape, and I’ll admit that in a fight based on notoriety alone the Millennium Falcon wins that one hands down.

The Quinjet is a bit of a reach, but it’s a cool list overall.

Surely 2001‘s Discovery should get the spot for “D.”

The Pillar of Autumn looks like a warmed-over Sulaco from Aliens to me. Maybe Prometheus?

Is the Tardis considered a spaceship? I thought it just kind of teleports from place/time to place/time. I would suggest TIE fighter.

Since Voyager looks so much like the Enterprise, what if V was V’ger? Star Trek: TMP is the only movie I’ll watch solely for one kickass special effect, and I think the V’ger miniature deserves some recognition.

Also, I know it doesn’t have an official name, but damn if the mothership from Close Encounters doesn’t belong somewhere on a list of iconic spacecraft.

No SDF-1, but Serenity deserves it as much.

And at the risk of a Star trek hat-trick, I’d have gone with the Defiant for D.

I went with the new one over the old one. What can I say, I’m a child of the 90′s, and remakes are my world.

Hah I know it was, but there are very few Q spaceships.

My fiance wouldn’t speak to me for a week after I told her the Falcon was a better choice than Moya, I think I made the right decision though. I did feel bad about it, Farscape is a great show and I feel bad that I couldn’t include it.

While I do love Voyager, how about a Valkyrie (VF1-J) from Robotech?

I agree with having Moya (we have a cat named after her) on the list, but given you can’t have two letter M’s the Falcon wins hands down. Still super awesome and I totally want this in my kids room. :D

Oh, hello there! Yet you went with the ’84 Heart of Gold instead of the 2005 movie version ( which had great visual aesthetics I’n to super crazy about the changes in the plotline, but the ship looked so pretty.)

Also: good job! I’m tickled at many of your selections, like red dwarf and bebop, but apparently I only post to complain :D

Obvious if slightly cheaty solution: Fudge the letters a bit. File the Falcon under F for (Millenium) Falcon, since that’s how people usually say the name. Put Moya in its proper place at M.

    Where’s the Nostromo? :-)

Seeing the White Star on the list made me really excited!

I always thought the Hammerhead fighters in Space: Above & Beyond were extremely cool looking.
