Woman Takes a Sip of McDonald’s Coke, Then Says She Found a Sludge Worm in It: ‘Literally Crying’

Yuck.

When taking a sip of Coke, you expect to feel the cold, fizzy liquid swirling in your mouth—and definitely not something slimy or mushy. But for one woman, her recent McDonald’s order turned into her “worst nightmare” when she allegedly found a worm in her drink.

“I’m literally crying and throwing up,” Mattie (@mattieandapple) said in a video on TikTok. According to Mattie, she was drinking a Coke that she ordered from McDonald’s before she noticed something amiss in her drink.

“There’s a f****** worm in it,” Mattie told the viewers as she was visibly disgusted by the discovery. In the video, a pinkish-brown, long shape, which appeared torn and dead, can be seen floating in the drink. They said they weren’t sure if there were multiple worms in the drink or if a big worm was “torn to pieces,” and they alleged that some were at the bottom of the drink as well.

It’s a sludge worm

The experience was seemingly more distressing for Mattie, who claimed to have a bug phobia. “This is my worst nightmare,” Mattie said. “I keep almost throwing up, and then I can’t throw it up because I’m scared of the worms coming back up and out of my mouth again.”

In the comments, Mattie added that they identified the worm as a sludge worm after scooping it out. This isn’t the first time a customer has found something wrong with their McDonald’s order, as one woman allegedly found a human tooth in her boyfriend’s fries.

Viewers were left just as disgusted by the sight of the worm. A viewer who claimed to work for the company alleged that seeing the actual state of McDonald’s equipment might make others rethink ordering. “I worked there. If you saw the soda machine BACK ROOM, you would never drink that soda. The ice machine is also dirty and gross,” the viewer said.

This isn’t McDonald’s first case of worms allegedly found in drinks

Others urged Mattie to report the incident to the company, saying, “Call corporate and explain they don’t clean their soda bar, that could be from not changing the lines ever, never washing out the system, and continuing to refill the soda syrup without proper cleanings.” Some believed this incident should prompt Mattie to boycott the fast food chain. “If you didn’t want to boycot them for Palestine, maybe boycot now?” a viewer wrote.

Mattie’s discovery isn’t a one-off; it seemed, as several other customers reportedly found worms in their McDonald’s drinks as well. Back in June, customers claimed to have found worms in their drinks from the chain’s Kenosha County location, per Fox 6.

The incident reportedly resulted in a 24-page class-action lawsuit against the company for serving beverages contaminated with live worms and raw sewage to at least three different customers. The customers affected are said to be suing for consumer protection violations, negligence, and battery, and are seeking compensation and punitive damages.

While nothing is confirmed, Mattie hinted at possibly filing a case for the incident if she is able to get funds for a lawyer.
