Mark Zuckerberg’s first sip of Guinness on ‘Cheeky Pint’ podcast has the internet cracking up
He came with a keg and left with a meme.

Mark Zuckerberg can spend hours talking about artificial intelligence (AI), but apparently one sip of Guinness was enough to give the internet something else to talk about. The Meta CEO’s reaction to the Irish stout during a recent podcast appearance has gone viral, with viewers convinced he was struggling to enjoy his drink.
Zuckerberg appeared alongside Meta Chief AI Officer Alexandr Wang on the October 12 episode of Cheeky Pint, hosted by Stripe cofounder John Collison. The 134-minute conversation covered Meta’s AI ambitions, but clips of the executives drinking Guinness have since attracted attention for a much less technical reason.
Zuckerberg even brought Collison a keg of Guinness from Dublin. Unfortunately, the resulting tasting moment has not exactly convinced social media that the billionaire is a stout enthusiast. Viewers soon focused on Zuckerberg’s slow sip, the way he moved the drink around his mouth, and the wince that followed.
Mark Zuckerberg’s face said what he apparently couldn’t
In a clip circulating online, Zuckerberg takes a sip of Guinness and appears to hesitate before swallowing. Viewers quickly began interpreting his expression as a sign that he wasn’t particularly impressed with the beer.
User @boowiebear joked on X that Zuckerberg might be thinking “What would a real human do right now?” while attaching a still frame, now a meme, from the circulating video. The reactions didn’t stop there. A clip shared on Reddit’s r/Sipstea community carried the caption “Mark Zuckerberg pretending to enjoy Guinness,” while one commenter joked that they had never seen someone try to chew a Guinness.
Others found the moment surprisingly relatable. One commenter described Zuckerberg’s reaction as “the most normal thing I’ve ever seen him do, actually.” For a CEO whose public appearances often involve discussing the future of technology, an awkward reaction to a pint of beer proved to be a refreshingly ordinary, and his “most human” internet moment.
Alexandr Wang wasn’t exactly racing through his pint either
Zuckerberg was not the only Meta executive whose Guinness consumption caught viewers’ attention. Wang, who joined Meta as its chief AI officer, also appeared less than enthusiastic about finishing his drink during the lengthy interview.
The internet has sometimes had intense opinions about Guinness, including a woman whose first-date drink order sparked an argument with her date. Guinness is known for its roasted barley flavor and creamy head which can take some getting used to.
Still, the moment fits neatly into the internet’s ongoing fascination with the less polished sides of tech executives. Zuckerberg and Wang spent much of the episode discussing Meta’s AI ambitions, including its Muse product and plans for personal AI agents. Yet the most widely discussed moment from their appearance has been a facial expression that viewers interpreted as a man reconsidering his drink order.
