Woman hid in the closet as gunfire exploded inside her home, then she went looking for her husband: ‘911 could not find us’

A woman is recounting the horrors of a shooting at her former home that resulted in the death of her husband. In a TikTok video, Jana Bailey249 (janabailey3) took viewers back to June 10, 2018, when it happened.
Bailey said that at 6 am on a Sunday morning, she woke to her dog “barking like crazy.” She said her husband returned to the bedroom after assessing the situation, but when she asked what had happened, he said nothing. After that, he apparently went into the closet, loaded their gun, and told Bailey that someone was outside.
Bailey said she “immediately” jumped up and looked out the bedroom window that faced their backyard, but couldn’t see anything because there was a lot of condensation on the window. “At the time, we were digging a pond. So I just assumed that somebody was on our equipment back there, and my husband was going to let him know to get off our equipment,” Bailey said, recollecting what she was thinking at the time.
She said she suddenly heard her husband yell. He was apparently asking the intruder about their motives while cussing them out, and then immediately heard gunshots. “There was immediate gunfire that came into our home,” Bailey said.
Speaking about the struggle she had to endure to get the authorities to her place before things got worse, Bailey said, “I turn around, and I see my phone on the end of our bed. I pick it up, and I call 911. My dog runs into our bedroom. I shut my bedroom door, and I lock it, and I follow my dog into our closet.” She added, “Um, while I am on the phone with 911, 911 could not find us. I was doing my best to give any kind of landmarks, any kind of details I could on how to get there. Um, but our address actually took them to a different city.”
Bailey said that when she realized she could not get through to the authorities, she came out of the closet and ran outside because she wanted to be with her husband. However, she was met with a trail of blood, and when she followed it, she found her husband, who was no longer alive. Bailey said she remained with her husband while also on the phone with 911 until the cops arrived.
As a concluding statement, Bailey revealed that the intruder who killed her husband was from Tupelo, Mississippi. She also mentioned that the man was killed in the encounter that killed her husband.
“Died protecting you”
For a topic as sensitive as Bailey’s, you always need to be careful what you say, and some people in the comments seemed to understand that. One user said, “My heart goes out to you. Your husband was so brave.” Another user said, “You had a amazing husband that was willing to die for you. Also how brave you were too want to be with your husband so you went out anyways despite being scared.Im very sorry for your loss.”
A few people focused on Bailey’s husband wanting to protect her selflessly, an act not heard of too often these days. A user wrote, “W husband though. Died protecting you. This is is so sad.” Another individual reacted similarly saying, “This is horrifying. Your husband did his job protecting you.
In a separate video, Bailey stated that her husband was a victim of a “targeted” attack, and a Google search reveals that little could be done by the authorities because the attacker also died at the scene. She said she has been gathering clues over the years, like Jumanji, but she did not disclose what she found.
