Woman Allegedly Escapes a Violent Attack at Her Campsite. Her ‘Stomach Dropped’ When Footsteps Returned 30 Mins Later, and the Man Smiled, ‘You Lied’
It sounds like something straight out of a horror movie.
For many people, solo camping is a way to escape daily routines and enjoy the quiet of the outdoors. But one story gaining attention is reminding viewers how quickly that sense of freedom can change when a stranger enters the picture.
An anonymous woman’s account shared by TikTok creator @confessionswithjordan has caught viewers’ attention after she described what she says was a peaceful backpacking trip that turned into a fight for survival, with many viewers pointing out the warning signs she noticed before the alleged attack.
In the submission, the woman says the incident happened about four years ago when she was 29 years old. She had recently become interested in backpacking and planned a long weekend alone in a remote backcountry area where campsites were spread several miles apart.

She hiked more than 15 miles from the parking area before reaching her campsite. After setting up her tent, she says she felt comfortable enjoying the isolation.
The trip took a turn while she was preparing dinner. She noticed a man standing behind a patch of brush about 30 yards away, watching her. At first, she believed he was another backpacker passing through. But when she looked back about a minute later, he had not moved an inch. “That’s when my stomach dropped.”
The man allegedly asked whether she was alone. Not wanting to reveal her situation, she told him a friend was nearby collecting water. He eventually walked away, but returned about 30 minutes later. During the second encounter, the man allegedly entered her campsite. He then began asking where she was from, how often she backpacked, whether anyone knew her location, and if she had brought a phone.
She says she repeatedly tried to end the conversation and asked him to leave. When she stood up and said she was going to sleep, he allegedly smiled and replied, “You lied,” referring to the friend she had mentioned.
The woman says she grabbed her bear spray and warned him to leave. She claims he rushed toward her, knocked the spray away and struck her on the head with a rock.
She says she escaped into the woods without her backpack, phone, food or car keys and spent the next three days trying to find her way back. Eventually, she followed the smell of smoke and returned to her original campsite, where the man was allegedly still there using her camping supplies and staying in her tent.
After hiding nearby until the following morning, she retrieved her phone and keys while the man was away. She then hiked back to her vehicle and called 911 after reaching an area with cell service.
The woman claims authorities later arrested the man at the campsite. She also alleges investigators told her he was a convicted violent offender who had violated parole and previously served prison time for sexual assaults and a violent robbery.
The anonymous woman’s account has not been independently verified. The creator has not shared public records related to the alleged investigation.
The story has drawn reactions from viewers, with many discussing whether criticism should focus on her decision to camp alone or the alleged actions of the man. “All these people saying ‘going alone/not having a weapon’ are crazy but no one saying ‘a man doing what he did is crazy,’” one commenter wrote.
Another commenter said, “A literal confirmation of why we would choose the bear.” The discussion also echoed another viral story about a woman who discovered a stranger inside her hotel room while traveling alone.
