‘Wants to take it away’: Robert De Niro destroys Donald Trump’s over his ‘king’ fantasy
Actor and film producer Robert De Niro, known for his roles in The Godfather Part II, Taxi Driver, and Silver Linings Playbook, has always been a vocal critic of Donald Trump and his administration.
Besides directly calling him and his government out on multiple occasions, the actor has closely associated himself with groups and organizations that show significant resistance towards the current United States President’s regime.
Robert De Niro is once again making it clear that he wishes to be on the right side of American history by endorsing the upcoming ‘No Kings’ protests conducted by several progressive groups that oppose the establishment of a monarchy in the United States. In a video shared by the Indivisible Project on Instagram on October 9, he can be seen reminiscing about the country’s past while noting that if it returns to the regime of that period, all the fight and development over the years would be futile. Highlighting the history of the ‘No Kings’ protest, De Niro says in the video:
“The original ‘No Kings’ protest was 250 years ago. Americans decided they didn’t want to live under the rule of King George III. They declared their independence and fought a bloody war for democracy.”
He goes on to explain that since then, America has experienced “two and a half centuries of democracy.” While acknowledging that this period has been “often challenging,” “messy,” but “essential,” he also references the two world wars that were fought to “preserve” that democracy.
Talking about Donald Trump and his malicious ways, Robert De Niro remarks:
“Now, we have a would-be king who wants to take it away. King Donald I. Fuck That.”
He then encourages people to join the ‘No Kings’ March being conducted in Washington, D.C., and across America on October 18, highlighting that the group was “nonviolently” raising their voices to declare ‘no kings.’” He concluded his message in a powerful way by saying:
“We’re all in this together, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”
