UK retail chain B&M released Halloween cookies so bad they’re ‘making kids cry,’ and people are calling them ‘cursed’
The autumnal breeze in the air can only mean one thing: Halloween is closing in, and in the UK, stores are already preparing with seasonal sweet treats. However, customers at the discount retail store known as B&M have been left horrified by a batch of Halloween-themed cookies that are apparently so bad it’s making kids cry.
The “cursed” cookies were first brought to the attention of TikTok by “jackolanternstories,” a British TikToker whose account is based around all things spooky and haunted. The TikToker had heard about the fabled B&M cookies last year, and when he heard the retail chain was bringing them back this year, he didn’t hesitate to grab some to try himself.
According to Jack, the cookies “were so atrociously bad they were actually making people spit them out, be sick, and making kids cry.” While he admits the cookies “look terrible,” he’s a big lover of all things Halloween, and so he had to give them a try.
The cookies feature a variety of designs, such as Frankenstein’s monster, a white ghost, and a purple bat. The packaging boasts a “new and improved recipe,” seemingly acknowledging the terrible reviews the cookies were given last year.
The B&M cookies are put to the test
So of course, the question that everyone wants answered is: have B&M actually improved the recipe? Jack starts with the ghost cookie and instantly notes that “it doesn’t have a nice feeling about it,” noting that “It feels like it could be in the same condition in five years time.”
Jack takes a bite and sums up what he’s tasting in one word: “vile.” He then calls out B&M, accusing the retail chain of lying about the new and improved recipe, asking, “What the hell was it like last time?” He describes the taste as being akin to “sawdust and poverty and with a little sprinkling of poisonous chemicals in there.” He says the cookies “look fun,” but are anything but.
Viewers questioned whether the biscuits were intended for dogs. One commenter even suggested hanging them up as Halloween decorations, claiming “they’d scare everyone.” Another theorized that the cookies were last year’s stock being sold again.
Jack wasn’t the only one brave enough to try B&M’s new cookies, as others who saw his TikTok were curious what the big fuss was about. TikToker Sofia also gave the biscuits a try and noted that they smelled “like crayons.” Upon taking a bite, she came to the same conclusion as Jack, claiming they tasted like “wood chippings.”
