Trump Says Jeanine Pirro Gave in to Judicial Pressure Over the Reflecting Pool Damage, ‘I Think She Choked’
"Instead of going after the people that did it, the judge went after her."
Donald Trump isn’t pleased with Jeanine Pirro’s decision to drop the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool prosecutions of several people who had been accused of damaging the lining and who potentially faced lengthy prison sentences if convicted.
Trump, while speaking with journalists on Monday at the Oval Office, said he believed Pirro, the U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, “choked” under pressure.
Disputing the claim that the Reflecting Pool lining failure was caused by “botched installation,” Trump once again repeated his belief that it had actually been vandalized. He also mentioned that he had video evidence supporting his claim.

Trump said: “And they cut all the way along the case. Cut cut cut. When Jeanine looked at it, it was the day after the Fourth of July, with the largest fireworks display in the world. And the stuff was laying all over the pool. The fireworks. Because they used the pool as one of the… and it was all over the pool. It was the day after.. very shortly thereafter. But that was working beautifully. And it was vandalized.”
He then referred to his video evidence, which he claims shows people cutting the lining: “If you look at the tape, now the tape isn’t a great tape in the sense that you… it’s a little hard to say who it actually was but it was people cutting this very expensive material.”
Referring to Pirro, Trump said, “The judge was extremely unfriendly to Jeanine, and I frankly think she choked because the judge was really vicious. Instead of going after the people that did it, the judge went after her and went after her department, and I guess she choked. I don’t know what the hell happened.”
A journalist then asked him if he was considering removing Pirro from her position and replacing her with someone else.
Trump replied that the journalist represented “fake news,” and told them not to speak again. “You’re fake news. Don’t ever talk again. You are fake. One of the worst in the business. Fortunately, nobody watches you.”
Lashing out at reporters isn’t new for Trump, as he has done so repeatedly since beginning his second term last year. In a particularly controversial incident, Trump asked CNN’s Kaitlan Collins to smile while she was asking questions related to the Jeffrey Epstein case.
