TikToker asks her parents for help after a heart attack at 24. Her DNA test uncovered a decades-old family secret: ‘Shocked everyone involved’
DNA testing has a way of uncovering secrets.

DNA testing can be used to solve crimes, but it’s also uncovered a number of family secrets, such as one case where a DNA test reunited lost friends and revealed a secret they didn’t know. For BlondeSanity (@kozmoqueen), her search for medical answers led to a DNA test that revealed a family secret from her grandparents’ generation.
BlondeSanity has a complex medical history, and she shares some of it on her TikTok, but the event that led to her finding family secrets was a heart attack she suffered at 24. She looked to her parents for help, but they allegedly didn’t take her to the doctor growing up. In an attempt to find some answers, BlondeSanity took a DNA test.
The test revealed her grandmother’s affair
BlondeSanity’s video on TikTok, in which she goes over the story, is no longer available, but The Daily Dot has some of the content and comments preserved in its article on the topic.
According to BlondeSanity, her mother’s father was not her actual father, which BlondeSanity discovered when her DNA test connected her to relatives she had no prior knowledge of. As she reached out to those relatives, she learned that her grandmother had an affair, resulting in her becoming pregnant with BlondeSanity’s mother, a story similar to the case of one woman learning her dad isn’t her dad after she found her own adoption papers.
The DNA test also let BlondeSanity learn that these unknown cousins had similar health issues, finally helping her understand the issues she was trying to navigate. While it was an unexpected journey, BlondeSanity’s discovery of a family secret provided some beneficial information about her complex medical situation.
What can cause a heart attack at 24?
While BlondeSanity didn’t share details about her condition and what it was, specifically, that led to her having a heart attack at a young age, there are a few scenarios that could result in having a heart attack that young. Jackson Health System has an article that looks at heart attacks in young people.
The common risk factors from lifestyle include smoking (tradional cigarettes and vaping both increase the risk), inactivity, and poor diet, but the risk can also be increased by family history, diabetes, underlying conditions, and even stress.
If you know that your family has risk factors that might increase your odds of heart disease and heart attacks, you can speak with your doctor about seeing a cardiologist. This should put you on the path to managing risk factors and making changes early to avoid having a heart attack or developing heart disease.
Unfortunately, in cases like BlondeSanity’s, there are scenarios where you might have an incomplete idea of your family’s medical history. In that case, make sure you monitor potential symptoms and stay in communication with your doctor.
