TikToker arrives 1 minute late to a nightmare babysitting job for a new family. The mother points to her watch and asks: ‘Was there traffic?’
Sometimes no employment is better than bad employment.

Social media has become a place for people to talk about their best and worst experiences, and Kiersten (@kiersten_conroy) shared a video on TikTok about her nightmare babysitting job. In the video’s description, she wrote, “I could go on and on.” Then, she starts off her horror story with, “I quit my job after 100 different reasons.”
Kiersten explains that she ended up working as a nanny for a family, but she was far from the only nanny they had. She claims that they had somebody working at their house constantly, and she even had shifts that overlapped with other nannies. From the moment she arrived, Kiersten faced scolding and micromanagement from the family’s parents, who worked from home.
Kiersten got off to a bad start on her first day
Scheduled to start at eight, Kiersten entered the house a single minute late. The mom asked her if there was traffic, to which Kiersten replied that there was not and asked why the mom was asking. Kiersten was then told that she should give herself more buffer time next time, basically implying that being even a single minute late was unacceptable, which another man experienced in healthcare when he was refused a CT scan because he arrived two minutes late to his appointment.
This encounter led to Kiersten arriving 10 minutes early the next time she had to work, and she then sat in her car for five minutes before entering the home, which meant that she was still five minutes early. Well, the mom wasn’t too happy about that either, it seemed.
Kiersten explains that the mom told her that she didn’t need to wait in her car and could just come inside the house. Then, she gave Kiersten a list of tasks, which were chores rather than childcare-related tasks. Kiersten remembered that it was laundry, doing the dishes, and a third task she didn’t recall.
The micromanagement was the worst part
While the issue of being late or early could be annoying, it was the micromanagement from the parents that contributed most to the reasons Kiersten eventually quit the job. It started with the three tasks Kiersten was given, and she chose to start with the laundry, only for the mom to say she would’ve started with the dishes.
When she did the dishes, Kiersten was told that she was positioning them wrong to dry because they had to be on their sides for the air to get in and dry them. This was far from the only day that Kiersten was micromanaged, and it even included the childcare she was meant to do. One example she gave was that the dad asked her if she knew what she was doing while she was brushing one of the children’s teeth.
Eventually, Kiersten had enough and quit the job, although she didn’t share if she quit on the spot like this Ross loss prevention worker. Commenters asked, “Wait, so were you babysitting, a nanny, or a housekeeper?” Others chimed in that Kiersten was a house manager for them, not a nanny, but the universal response was that Kiersten was being asked to do tasks that nannies shouldn’t be responsible for completing.
The real kicker? Kiersten was hired to work in the dad’s office, not to be a nanny.
