Things We Saw Today: TMS Joins PAX East Games Journalism Panel

Exciting times were had.

This time last week, I, Jessica Lachenal, was schlubbing around the PAX East expo floor all dewy-eyed and idealistic. Oh, and I was nervous because I was supposed to sit on a panel next to three indescribably incomparable incredible women to talk about how we all got into games journalism. You can check out that panel above, which featured Ashley Barry, Tanya DePass, Jillian Gorry, and, yeah, me.

  • io9’s Charlie Jane Anders recently shared an essay that reinforces io9’s belief that science fiction belongs to everyone. It’s a piece you should definitely read, especially if recent issues have you doubting why you love what you love.
  • The Entertainment Software Association has shared its survey findings looking into the demographics of gamers. Interesting tidbit: the average guy who plays games is 35. The average woman? 44. Check out the full findings over on the ESA website. (via Polygon)

Click play. Don’t ask why. Don’t mind the title. Just do it. And let the sound of magic wash over you. (Mouth Sounds, anybody?) (via Kotaku)

  • Go ahead and wash the taste of that out of your mouth with 94 minutes of Dagobah sounds. It’s the white noise express pulling into the station to truck you off into dreamland. Sleep well, friend. (via io9)
  • And because you look like you could use your daily dose of #brands: here’s a Tumblr that gathers every single appearance of the old-style Doritos bag in film. Why? Because why not. This is the internet. (via The Daily Dot)

Have a great weekend, you lovelies. <3
