Trevor Noah, Daily Show Host of Two Months, Now Very Experienced in Responding to Mass Shootings

Last night Trevor Noah had the difficult task of lampooning GOP responses to the San Bernadino shooting–difficult because there’s nothing funny about the dangerously ass-backwards priorities of the GOP, especially since this is the fourth mass shooting Noah’s addressed on-air since his tenure at the Daily Show began just over two months ago.

Noah focused specifically on “asshole” Ted Cruz, who sent invitations out the day after the deadly shooting for a “Second Amendment rally” at a gun range. Says Noah,

Yeah, 14 people just lost their lives in a shooting, and Ted Cruz’s first thought is, ‘Oh, that reminds me, got to send out my invites to my gun party. That seems like something you would only do if you were an asshole, which it turns out is exactly what voters are looking for.

Maybe Ted Cruz is the leader that America needs. He’s the first person in recent memory who’s been able to unite people of both parties in their hatred of him. And maybe, just maybe for that reason, we might all grow to love him. But probably not.
