He Said, He Said: Steven Moffat Refutes David Yates Doctor Who Movie Remarks

The World Doesn't End Because the Doctor Dances

I'm not sure who or what to believe anymore. Talk of a Doctor Who movie is something that's floated around for a while but was recently renewed when Harry Potter director David Yates announced he was going to direct it. Well that got more than a few people in a tizzy, fans and creators alike. Now current showrunner Steven Moffat has come out to "lay the smackdown" on what will and won't be happening in a potential Doctor Who movie.

Feel Free to Keep Panicking About A Doctor Who Movie, If You Like

And So It Begins

Last month the Doctor Who fandom exploded with the news that Harry Potter helmer David Yates was pushing a Doctor Who movie, and saying things like "It needs quite a radical transformation to take it into the bigger arena," and "Russell T. Davies and then Steven Moffat have done their own transformations, which were fantastic, but we have to put that aside and start from scratch." This seemed to many to simply be somebody making a Inspector Spacetime movie but calling it Doctor Who. This seemed to many to be a potentially terrible idea. It didn't help that Yates apparently announced his intentions quite a bit more firmly than the BBC was ready for, and for a day or so "official" accounts of what was going on conflicted. Well, Yates is still talking about it, and how he's looking for a writer.

Forget That Doctor Who Movie, Make CSI: Galifrey Instead [VIDEO]

Submitted For Your Approval

A big splash was made earlier this week when Harry Potter director David Yates announced he was putting together a Doctor Who adaptation for the big screen. BBC America later confirmed it and thousands of voices cried out. Perhaps Whovians would be interested in something completely different rather than a reboot of their beloved show. CSI: Gallifrey perhaps? Take a look at this opening montage and mystery and see if you don't find it oddly intriguing. And make sure to keep an eye on the cast list.

Brighter Directors Ask Nicer: Potter vs Transformers in a Theater Near You

A Lesson in Humility

High-budget actors and actresses once commanded the ultimate shine, but a new star has come to light. Yes, the noble Projectionist has upstaged them all, attracting the attention of two big directors; Michael Bay and David Yates. You might remember that our buddy Michael "We're-all-in-this-together" Bay politely asked projectionists to burn through their bulbs to make Transformers 3: Dark Side of the Moon explode through our retinas more effectively. Great, no big deal, just a throw thousands of extra dollars into the expense pits of our movie theaters. It was a move that quickly evoked ire and some choice mutterings of "not cool bro" through the interwebs. Can't you just go home already? Is it really necessary to impose on the projectionist your vision of the film? David Yates, director of (1/2) the Harry Potter franchise thought so. But here's where the similarities end.

The Trio and Jo Rowling Bid Adieu to Harry Potter, the World Drowns in Tears

I'm In A Glass Case of Emotion

If you were wondering why all the Harry Potter fans you knew were weepy messes yesterday, this would be why. At the end of the livestream of the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2 London premiere yesterday, the main cast and creators of the franchise stood in front of the 18,000+ fans gathered in the square and talked about what the series has meant to them. Given her turn, Emma Watson burst into tears upon thanking Jo Rowling for everything she's done, and it's all an emotional whirlwind from there. Rupert Grint thanks everyone for providing him with the best half of his lifetime (as well as for what JKR's done for gingers everywhere). But Jo ends the clip in the best possible way, saying that "The stories we love best do live in us forever. So whether you come back by page or by screen, Hogwarts will always be there to welcome you home." The emotions of the clip are best expressed through the following cartoon:

Tim Burton is Off of Maleficent

Oh Hollywood

Disney let it leak two years ago that one of the things they had stewing in their pot was a live-action movie featuring Maleficent, the villain (and fan favorite of everybody who found Sleeping Beauty's heroine a little flat) of one of Disney's most historically important animated films. Since then, we haven't had much but rumors about it, but what exciting rumors! First Brad Bird was going to direct, then Angelina Jolie was going to star, then Tim Burton was being put in charge of the project. Well, while Jolie was still interested in July of last year, Burton is officially off Maleficent.
