Star Wars Rebels Has A New Trailer and a Premiere Date

Recommended Videos

We saw the first trailer for the fourth season of Star Wars Rebels back in April, right around the time when executive producer Dave Filoni revealed that the fourth season will also be Rebels‘ last. While that first trailer teased, “We never imagined it would end…like this,” this new one out of the Toronto Fan Expo promises a deepened mythology and rifts over the direction of the Rebellion – and of the Rebels’ own lives.

Saw Gerrera is getting closer to his Rogue One persona, warning, “if you continue to allow this war to be fought on the Empire’s terms, you are going to lose,” and urging, “You can run Mon Mothma’s errands, or do something that might actually matter.” It looks like Ezra may end up persuaded by Saw’s methods, and it looks like we’ll get more Loth-Wolf mythology as well. Meanwhile, Hera and Kanan are facing some decisions about their relationship and their role in the Rebellion. (Still no clear clue about what happens to Ahsoka, though!)

At the Star Wars Rebels panel at Star Wars Celebration 2017, Filoni explained his reasoning (at around the 46:50 mark in the panel video) for ending the series after its fourth season. “I think about ‘Where are we going?’ and ‘What do the characters need to go through?’,” he said, “…I feel creatively that I can make this story about these characters the most meaningful that it can be by arcing it to where I need to get to at the end of this season.”

Season Four of Star Wars Rebels will premiere on Disney XD on October 16, 2017.

How are you liking this second trailer? What are you most curious and/or excited about for this season?
