Adam Brody is making his political stance very clear while discussing his career and current projects. The actor recently shared his thoughts on the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. He did not hold back when asked about his perspective on the situation. According to Variety, Brody stated, “Put me down as thinking it’s a genocide.” He also added, “Put me down as wanting a free Palestine.”
The actor’s comments arrive as he continues his work on the popular Netflix series Nobody Wants This. Brody plays the character of rabbi Noah Roklov in the popular romantic comedy show. Season 3 is set to arrive on the streaming platform on October 22. Despite his fictional role, the actor maintains a strong focus on real world issues. He explained his approach to discussing politics during public appearances.
In a conversation with GQ, he said “I just answer the questions I’m asked.” He admitted that he usually focuses on his show during press events. Brody noted that his not wearing pins means he does not get asked specific questions. He expressed admiration for those who did. The actor said he has never actively ducked a political question, clarifying that he is not trying to plead ignorance regarding these important topics.
Brody also addressed his absence from social media platforms
The O.C. actor believes staying off social media sites is the healthiest choice for him. He stated, “I’m sure as s— not going to be on anything that Elon Musk is a part of.” He acknowledged that many people do good work on X. He expressed happiness for their efforts. However, he remains firm that the platform is not for him. He feels no guilt about his decision to stay away from it. He said, “Sorry, I feel great about it.”
Us Weekly reports that Brody’s political engagement spans back several decades. He remembers the time he first felt a strong political awakening. It was the 2001 election between former George W. Bush and Al Gore. The terrorist attacks on September 11 occurred only eight months later.
Brody, 46, recalled thinking at the time that it was not good to have a leader he viewed as a moron. He labeled the former president a ‘bad leader’ during a difficult time. He believes the country is still paying for those years today.
The actor has actively supported various political candidates over the years. Brody participated in campaigning efforts back in 2008. He later joined a group called Swing Left. His work with that organization began in 2018 for the midterms in Laguna Beach. He helped in a local effort to flip a congressional seat. He has continued to work with the group for a long time.
Brody also commented on the impact of political cycles on celebrity advocacy
He noted that the election of Donald Trump in 2016 was a major turning point. He described that moment as something that woke everyone up. Brody says he saw many people running for office for the first time and felt it was safe to speak out against the administration during that first term. He believed most of the country stood against the actions taken at that time.
The actor said the situation changed significantly during Trump’s second term. “The second time, the presidency was more powerful. Corporations were lining up behind him like they hadn’t before. People had to risk more to get in front of it. It just felt like the mood wasn’t there. The country decided this is the way it wants to go,” he said.
Brody further pointed out that Hollywood has become more conservative recently. He attributes this to the influence of the Make America Great Again movement.
“As one side has more power, it makes sense that it draws people to it for all the human reasons that would be attractive: groupthink, your own well-being, your own money and success. Between COVID, a second Trump term, Israel-Gaza [conflict], it’s really brought out some different beliefs that I was ignorant to, and then disheartened by,” he explained.
Brody is now looking ahead to the upcoming 2026 midterm elections. He believes the political tide is starting to shift once again. He feels that people are starting to feel powerful again and says that he finds this shift in momentum exciting.
