A man says he promised to be back by 10 after a couple of pints with a friend, and past midnight he found himself dancing in a gay bar

We hope he had fun…

A Plymouth-based man reportedly ended up at a gay bar after agreeing to an early pub session with a friend. His original plan was to watch a football match after his Amazon delivery shift and be home by 10:00 PM. However, the night reportedly concluded at 2:00 AM with an unexpected detour across town.

Content creator Luca (@luca.danciu) outlined the evening in a TikTok video that has reached thousands of viewers. He explained that after arriving at the first pub to find rows of liquor shots waiting on the table, the group purportedly abandoned their original cutoff time and moved toward the city center.

During the crawl, Luca said he separated from part of his group and wound up inside a gay bar, dancing on a pole before heading to another venue. His eventful night reportedly ended with strangers borrowing his phone to post their photos to his TikTok account.

A casual football viewing turned into an extended pub crawl and led Luca to a gay bar

In the video, Luca detailed how the plan began during his delivery route. A friend reportedly messaged him around midday to suggest a low-key evening. “My boy texts me at 12:00 in the afternoon, he’s like, ‘Oh, you trying to go to the pub later on, have a chill one, watch the England game, watch the other football games, and then, you know, maybe go home?’” Luca recalled.

According to him, the friend suggested that they’d be home by 10:00 PM after having only a “couple of pints.” To which, Luca responded, “I’m on that, because I don’t really want to go out either.” However, by early evening, the friend reportedly sent a follow-up message proposing a pub crawl instead.

Luca then claimed he met the group at a Wetherspoons pub, where the group was already taking shots. “I get to Wetherspoons, they’ve got shots on the table lined up. They’re like, ‘Oh bro, you’re on catch-up.’ I back down three shots. I’m like, ‘Rah, this is going to be a messy night already.’”

And Luca turned out right. The group reportedly found their second pub stop quiet, and hailed an Uber into the city center instead. There, Luca claimed that he separated from the initial group and entered a nearby venue. “I ended up going into a bar that I’d never been to, it was a gay bar,” he said. “It’s a strip pole. I may or may not have bust some moves… on there,” Luca admitted.

Luca woke up next day to see the aftermath of his wild night-out

At the gay bar, Luca admitted to having recorded himself and even posted the clip. “I ended up posting a crazy video of me with—with some—not a crazy video, but just a drunk video,” he said.

After leaving the gay bar, Luca reportedly reunited with the group and went to the next club. At the next venue, two girls allegedly recognized him from social media and asked for a picture. However, the girls reportedly claimed their batteries were dead and used Luca’s phone to take the pictures.

Done and dusted with the night, Luca then reportedly went back home at 2:00 AM. But the wild night followed him to the next morning. According to Luca, he woke up the following morning to discover that the two girls from last night had recorded and published videos with him on his TikTok account.

Luca has since deleted the alleged clips, as they cannot be found on his account anymore. His experience shows how casual social commitments frequently dissolve through group escalation and situational disinhibition.

Even though Luca initially only agreed on a couple of pints, he went on to get substantially more drunk. This can be explained through research on social drinking, which shows that peer behaviour can influence individual alcohol consumption.

A 2012 study published in Basic and Applied Social Psychology, examining 397 college students across natural drinking events, found that larger groups were associated with greater alcohol consumption. It also found an increased compliance with drink offers when collective drinking norms were high.

Similarly, research published in Psychology of Addictive Behaviors examines how social imitation contributes to drinking behaviour. It suggests that individuals may adjust their consumption to align with the group’s drinking pace and perceived social expectations. This leads them to potentially diverge from their initial intentions, like Luca did.
