Jimmy Kimmel is all praises for Trump’s ‘Pettysburg address’: ‘Maybe they’ll give him the Nobel Piece-of-Pool Prize’
The deflection game.

The air was thick with anticipation and late-night television was buzzing with political commentary as the nation prepared for the midterm elections on November 3, 2026. According to Reality Tea, Jimmy Kimmel took aim at Donald Trump following the president’s final campaign rally held at the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool on Wednesday, November 2. Kimmel started his monologue on Jimmy Kimmel Live! by addressing the legal situation surrounding the president.
He noted that the president has a hefty bag full of frivolous lawsuits meant to shield him from a potential blue wave. He joked Trump has filed so many lawsuits that judges now have to rule on Saturdays. The host then urged his audience to ensure they are registered to vote and to participate in the upcoming election. The focal point of Kimmel’s opening segment was the president’s appearance at the newly reopened Reflecting Pool in Washington, D.C.
This project had been shut down for renovations for nearly four months. Kimmel did not hold back when describing the setting for the president’s final closing argument. He remarked, “Trump made his closing argument today. He chose to do that in front of his ill-fated reflecting pool. And where better to reassure the public that they are in good hands than in front of a pool you’ve repeatedly botched to the tune of $16 million?”
The irony was not lost on Kimmel
The late-night host said that the man who once promised to drain the swamp was now holding a rally in front of his own man-made swamp. Kimmel compared the visual of the president standing before the pool to the historic image of soldiers at Iwo Jima. According to the Irish Star, he added, “Many are calling it his Pettysburg Address; he blamed Joe Biden and Obama for everything that happened to the pool before he was there.”
During the rally, the president spoke about the size and scope of the reflecting pool. A clip played during the show captured the president saying, “This is a massive piece of, uh, piece of pool. There’s never been anything like it when you look at the size.”
Kimmel responded, “He’s right. It is indeed a massive piece of pool when you look at the size. I don’t know, maybe they’ll give him the Nobel Piece-of-Pool Prize.” The host also mentioned that the president is allegedly considering renaming the pool after himself.
The monologue took a turn into the bizarre as Kimmel described the various topics covered during the rally. He mentioned that the president ranted about grass, topsoil, construction projects, a ballroom, James Comey, and even rusty pipes.
Kimmel did not stop there
The late-night host, who is known for taking potshots at Trump, referred to the president as ‘an Energizer Dummy’ and ‘a four-year-old in a fat suit.’ These jabs are part of a long history of Kimmel using his platform to critique the current administration.
Despite the harsh tone, Kimmel offered a small concession. He stated, “You know what? He’s a terrible president, but as a comedian I have to respect his commitment to that bit.” He was referring to Trump explaining why he called democrats, ‘dumocrats.’
The show also touched on other political figures like former Democratic Senate candidate Haley Stevens. With over 57 million Americans having already cast their ballots, the atmosphere across the country feels incredibly charged. Kimmel’s commentary serves as a reminder of how deeply the political climate influences popular culture.
The president reportedly managed to complete 30 rallies over the past 32 days. Kimmel’s roast captures a specific perspective on these efforts, focusing on the spectacle rather than the policy. His focus on the Reflecting Pool rally highlights the intersection of infrastructure, political branding, and the performative nature of modern campaigns.
