Welcome to Pull It Together, where the goal is to narrow the massive field of comic book titles to the ones you shouldn’t overlook. It isn’t about what’s on my pull list, it’s about what could be on yours!
As always, there’s a bumper crop of issues out this week, including new installments of
Lumberjanes, Ms. Marvel, and Steven Universe, as well as Storm‘s “Death of Wolverine” tie-in issue, and the final issue of Greg Rucka’s Veil. But which issues do we think you should definitely consider? You’ll have to check the gallery.
Each comic in the following gallery is listed with its official teaser summary (in italics) and my own commentary (below that) where applicable.
There's no cross domain hackery or tracking voodoo, it's just some sweet jQuery animations.
Please, think of the animations.
In the meantime, enjoy the html version below. I guess. If that's your thing.
The new storyline "Batwoman and the Unknowns" starts now with new artist Georges Jeanty (Buffy the Vampire Slayer )! Batwoman is neck-deep in danger with her new allies Ragman, The Demon, Clayface and Red Alice! What is going on and how did Batwoman end up here? Find out beginning in this issue!
It's a new era for
Batwoman as the book transitions to a team title, with Kate Kane taking the lead of a team known only as The Unknowns. Also apparently this whole issue takes place in space! So that's a thing.
Ms. Marvel Vol. 1
Marvel Comics presents the new Ms. Marvel, the groundbreaking heroine that has become an international sensation! Kamala Khan is an ordinary girl from Jersey City — until she's suddenly empowered with extraordinary gifts. But who truly is the new Ms. Marvel? Teenager? Muslim? Inhuman? Find out as she takes the Marvel Universe by storm! When Kamala discovers the dangers of her newfound powers, she unlocks a secret behind them, as well. Is Kamala ready to wield these immense new gifts? Or will the weight of the legacy before her be too much to bear? Kamala has no idea, either. But she's comin' for you, New York!
It's the very first trade paper back collection of
Ms. Marvel! This volume collects issues #1-5 and a short comic from All-New Marvel Now! Point One #1. The buzz on this series is big, so now you can pick up the entire first story arc in one gulp.
Sleepy Hollow #1
As fans of the Sleepy Hollow television series (now entering its second season on Fox), we knew we had to make a comic just as haunting, engaging and visually gorgeous as the show itself. Featuring multi-layered characters, intense visuals, and creepy storylines, Sleepy Hollow is primed for comics.
Not only that, but one of the most exciting young writers working today, Scott Snyder protégé Marguerite Bennett is currently writing Archaia’s Butterfly and has worked on DC’s Lobo , Superman: Lois Lane , and Batman: Joker's Daughter . Even if you don’t watch the show, Sleepy Hollow is perfect for fans of Supernatural . Includes all-new back-up stories from Noelle Stevenson (Lumberjanes ).
After dying on the battlefield during the Revolutionary War, Ichabod Crane awakes in present-day Sleepy Hollow, New York. His resurrection is tied to the reappearance of the Headless Horseman, one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. Realizing it is his mission to help stop the end of the world, Ichabod teams with Lt. Abbie Mills to meet each evil threat head-on. When minor miracles start to sweep the town, they’re glad something good seems to be happening for once. No decapitations, no headless horseman, no worries, right? But as one by one the miracles start to backfire, more and more violently, Abbie and Ichabod must find time between saving the world to save the citizens of Sleepy Hollow…
We couldn't be more excited about the rising star of Marguerite Bennet, except that she's writing a
Sleepy Hollow tie in comic with Noelle Stevenson on the back up story! That's very exciting! Now TV viewers won't even have to wait a whole week to get their next dose of Abby and Ichabod's adventures, or, at least they won't once a month.
Are you looking forward to picking up a title this week that isn’t in Pull It Together? Mention it in the comments and I’ll take a look! Just remember: PIT only covers one week at a time, not one month! If it’s not coming out this week, it won’t be on the list.
