Trailer For Pokémon: The Origin Drops, Surprisingly Devoid Of Any Pikachu [Video]

Prepare for trouble and make it... wait, we're not doing that anymore? Okay.

I was always way more into the Pokémon Gameboy games then I was a fan of the television series starring Ash Ketchum, Misty and Brock, but it seems weird to see a new Pokémon franchise trailer that doesn’t focus on any of these characters. Weird and surprisingly awesome, actually.

The new special Pokémon: The Origin will tell the story of Red, the playable character from the first four Pokémon games, as he becomes a Pokémon master. Rather than creating new characters within the Pokémon world, Origin will be based entirely on the story of the games.

No word yet on whether or not it will incorporate any of the weirdo Pokémon created after the original 151, but I sure hope not — call me old fashioned but I just don’t get those new ones. Seriously, explain to me what’s happening with that duck sombrero one. Ludicolo? It’s weird, man.

The Origin will premiere in Japan in October.
