Petro Waitress Breaks Down After Two HR Complaints End Her Job. Then She Reveals Who Filed Them: ‘You’re a Monster’
An HR professional reached out to help.

A Petro waitress says two HR complaints led to her termination. She claims her own mother filed both. She previously shared posts about her life and her job at the restaurant, sometimes wearing her work uniform. The restaurant referenced in the video is Iron Skillet, the signature restaurant brand associated with Petro travel centers, according to TravelCenters of America.
TikTok creator ThatGirl@IronSkillet (@ataylor414) shared the claim in an emotional video she described as her final checkout as a waitress at Petro. She said she had never received an HR complaint during her career before what she described as two complaints filed within a matter of weeks.
She then identified her mother as the person she said filed the complaints. “Those complaints just got me terminated from my job. My own mother.” She said in the comment that she blocked her mom on everything.
The creator claimed it happened over “jokes.”
The creator became visibly emotional as she discussed the impact she said the situation could have on her family. She said her “two grandsons” would be affected by the loss of her job before turning her anger toward her mother. She then added, “You’re a monster.”
In the comments, ThatGirl@IronSkillet mentioned, “I violated company policy by cussing and making sexual remarks while wearing their logo. And remarks as in like jokes. I work with truck drivers,” she added, “they like a little humor.” (It’s unclear if those remarks were made on the job or TikTok.)
She later added, in the comments, “She called 3 different times with different complaints. The last one she mentioned my TikTok, this page, and said i was posting in my work uniform. So yes they listened, and they fired me.” Someone posted in that thread, “She did indeed ‘violate’ policy, it’s just no one would care if her mother didn’t complain.”
HR consultant offered to help.
ThatGirl@IronSkillet’s TikTok posts drew attention from people who had terrible experiences with their own mother, as well as someone who said they own a fractional HR consulting firm. “I would love to talk to you about what exactly happened, maybe I can help you?” the commenter wrote. ThatGirl@IronSkillet said she reached out.
Fractional HR allows businesses to bring in an experienced HR professional or consulting firm on a part-time or project basis rather than hire a full-time HR executive. These services can include employee-relations guidance, compliance support, workplace policy development, and assistance with complex personnel matters.
The fractional HR consultant’s offer could give the creator a better understanding of the process she says led to her termination. Depending on the scope of the consultation, an HR professional could theoretically review relevant documentation, explain workplace procedures, and help her identify questions about the complaints or the employment termination. The commenter, however, did not say they had reviewed the case or concluded that Petro mishandled the situation.
ThatGirl@IronSkillet has posted several times on the matter, responding to viewer questions and further explaining the situation. She later posted again, saying she had started a GoFundMe after she lost her job. And on August 10, 2026, she shared that she started a new job.
Viral videos, meanwhile, also led to a Menards cashier being fired recently after he shared a video of a customer telling him he needed to be more “proactive” in greeting customers.
