Perez Hilton’s family gives update and hits back against rumors of memory loss

The latest on Perez HIlton

Perez Hilton was hospitalized on August 4, 2026, after a live stream on TikTok in which he appeared covered in blood and seemed to commit acts of self-harm, alarming a number of people. He has since remained hospitalized while he recovers, with only limited updates given on his condition. However, his family recently spoke out about Hilton’s recovery and pushed back against some unusual rumors.

In a statement released on PerezHilton.com, they wrote, “It’s been more than a month since the events of August 4, and we wanted to share an update with everyone […] After weeks in the hospital receiving treatment for his physical injuries, Perez entered a residential treatment program where he can focus fully on his mental health and recovery.”

His family put rumors reported by the Daily Mail to rest

On September 2, 2026, the Daily Mail released an article claiming that after the events that occurred during Hilton’s TikTok stream, he had lost ten years’ worth of memories, leaving him to believe it was currently 2016. The article also made several other claims regarding Hilton’s lucidity and strange requests.

Hilton’s family spoke out against the claims in the article in their statement and explained, “To be clear, Perez has not lost 10 years of his memory, does not believe it’s 2016, and is not confused about where he is. He is lucid and communicates clearly with his family. He does not have stitches and is not covered in gauze. And no, he has not asked anyone to bring Katy Perry to see him or mentioned her.”

The statement pushed back against these rumors and offered further insight into Hilton’s current circumstances. According to Hilton’s family, he will remain in the residential treatment program for several weeks, if not longer. He currently doesn’t have his laptop or phone and only has limited contact with loved ones, so he can focus on getting better.

The family also called out online hate

The family’s statement made a point of mentioning that September is Suicide Prevention Month, and called out comments from those online who wished Hilton had succeeded at taking his life.

The family said, “Mario is a father of three, a son, a brother, and a friend who reached a point where he was struggling so deeply that he thought the people he loved would somehow be better off without him.”

The statement also pointed out that Hilton had, in recent years, acknowledged and apologized for some of the harm he caused in his early years as a blogger. It also read, “No one has to forget his past or accept his apologies. But we hope we can all agree that celebrating someone’s suicide attempt crosses a line.”

The update from the family closed out by reiterating that Hilton is alive, surrounded by people who want him healthy again, and is getting the help he needs.
