Pasadena Cybertruck owner shocked to see elderly driver key his car ‘for no reason at all,’ TikTok thinks he’s jealous
A Pasadena Cybertruck owner was left confused and irritated after an elderly man was caught keying his car for seemingly no reason. The footage, which was captured by the Tesla itself, showed the unknown man seemingly dragging his keys along the surface of the vehicle multiple times before getting into his own vehicle and fleeing the scene.
Sunny posted the footage to TikTok, asking whose “grandpa” keyed his car, before adding that it was “for no reason at all.” The clips shared by Sunny show the man clearly taking his keys and scraping them along the car.
Cybertrucks, which faced plenty of bad press last year, do have a few handy features, including cameras all over the vehicle. The cameras on the Cybertruck provide two different angles: one that gives a clear look at the perpetrator’s face, and another that shows the keying.
The man walks along the length of the vehicle with his keys in hand, presumably leaving scratch marks in the paintwork of the truck as he goes. He then doubles back and does it a second time. As he opens the door to his own car parked next door, he hesitates before keying Sunny’s truck one last time.
The man may have hated Cybertrucks
Viewers maintained that the man must have had a reason. One commenter claimed that Sunny “must have done something to him before parking,” adding that the keying was “just payback time.” However, Sunny insisted he had done nothing to warrant such a response from the man, providing footage of him parking next to the car and even claiming he repositioned his truck to give the man more space.
Other commenters concluded that the man may have done it because he was jealous, or simply didn’t like Teslas and Cybertrucks. “Why do people hate tesla? I don’t get it,” wrote one person. However, others agreed with the old man, writing, “If it’s a Tesla I approve.” Another agreed, adding, “At least it was just a Tesla.”
For some people, Tesla may leave a bad taste in their mouths due to the association with Elon Musk and Donald Trump. Last year saw many protesters targeting the vehicles due to the man at the head of the company, so it’s safe to say that Teslas and Cybertrucks aren’t particularly well liked by some people.
Whether that was the man’s motivation for keying the car remains unclear. Viewers advised Sunny to press charges against the old man, as his license plate can be clearly seen as he’s pulling away. Many have since demanded an update, wanting to know if whether the Cybertruck owner contacted the authorities over the incident or not; so far, Sunny has not confirmed either way.
