The World Needs More Comics: Overwatch Comic Coming in 2017

If you, like me and can’t seem to get enough of the story and world behind Blizzard’s shooter, Overwatch, then brace yourselves. We’re about to get everything we’ve been looking for. Dark Horse Comics just announced that they’re bringing the Overwatch story to life with a hefty original graphic novel. The OGN will weigh in at about 100 pages, all packed with lore and stories from the Overwatch universe. There aren’t any details on what the plot might be or who it might focus on, though you can probably take a pretty solid guess based on the teaser image of the cover.

Judging by the cover, I’d say it looks like the comic might move back and forth between present-day Overwatch (post-Omnic War) and past Overwatch. There have been plenty of references in-game to what these events might have been like. Outside of the game, Blizzard has also released a series of small comics that dip into the lore even more. It should be noted that Dark Horse is also behind the production of those digital comics, working in conjunction with writer Andrew Robinson of Blizzard and Bengal, who does the art for Adventures of Supergirl.

Each of the comics has been a welcome glimpse into the rich world that Blizzard has built. It’s super exciting to think that they’re going to go even deeper with this OGN, and I personally cannot wait to get my hands on it. It’s slated to hit store shelves in the summer of 2017.

‘Til then, however, you can catch me Sniper Mom-ing it up online.
