Many things happened during Friday’s event, some good, some bad, but one of the incidents that gained attention on social media, including X (formerly Twitter), involved Trump’s comments about rapper, singer, and songwriter Nicki Minaj.

Trump says Nicki Minaj started to twerk during White House Correspondents’ Dinner shooting

In a particularly embarrassing speech, which has caused some people to hurl insults at United States President Donald Trump, he talks about the White House Correspondents’ Dinner held in April and recounts what he saw Nicki Minaj doing while shots were fired during the event.

Throwing it back to the time shots were fired at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.

Regarding the gunshots heard during the original event, Trump said that many people started yelling and urged everyone to “get down.” He added that hearing these chants caused Nicki Minaj to start twerking.” As a few people in the audience burst out laughing at this “joke,” including Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, Trump continued, adding that Minaj was the only one who “really understood what that (Get down) meant.” As some in the crowd erupted into even more laughter and applause, Trump says, “it was quite the evening.”

People in the comments section of posts about the incident are urging Nicki Minaj to react

Nicki Minaj’s fans, known as the Barbs, have mostly responded in the comments section of Pop Base’s video post showing Trump claiming she was “twerking” during the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, which was held in April. They are defending Minaj and urging her to speak out on the issue. Some people see Trump’s comments about Minaj in this context as an insult and are asking her to cut ties with him and the Republicans, whom she has grown close to in recent months.

Speaking of Nicki Minaj, she once said that she was Trump’s biggest fan.

It seems that Nicki Minaj is watching how people are reacting to Trump’s words about her, and on Saturday, she took to X to clarify her feelings about the situation. Sharing a video of Trump joking about her “twerking,” Minaj attached a suspicious-looking pink-haired Chucky doll and captioned, “How I’ll be looking @ the President next time I see him.”
