New York City woman's cat returned from an annual vet checkup limping and covered in pee. The vet diagnosed it with 'arthritis'

India (@official_unhinged_queen) from New York City brought her cat to the vet for an annual checkup. After getting her pet back disheveled and injured, she warned others on social media not to visit the clinic.

“Never bring your pet to the Heart of Chelsea vet in New York City,” India told TikTok. She called the experience “unforgivable” and threatened legal action against the clinic for what happened to her pet cat.

On October 12, India claimed she brought her four-year-old female British Shorthair to the clinic. She claimed that after a visual scan, the clinic determined her cat was in perfect health. Then, she alleged that the staffers took her cat to the back. India had no qualms about that, stating, “I’ve always been very trusting of all the vets I’ve been to in the past. I’ve never had a situation like this before.” After fifteen minutes, India said they brought her cat back out.

“She was covered in urine, soaking wet. They plopped her in my lap, and she’s crying,” India alleged. Before that happened, India said she didn’t even know cats could cry. Then, the nurse practitioner allegedly told India that her cat was “very difficult.” While India believes her cat is gentle, some families understand that their pets can be frisky. One family was even afraid to hold their Chihuahua down during a vet visit. Still, India asserted that her cat is mild-tempered.

“All she ever does is sleep. She’s never hurt anyone, ever. She’s so gentle,” India claimed while she cuddled her cat. After the checkup, she said they charged her upwards of a thousand dollars. She paid the bill without complaint and returned home. However, when she took her cat out of the carrier, India said her cat couldn’t walk.

Her cat had problems after the vet visit

She stitched a video on TikTok of her cat struggling to walk. India’s cat was visibly limping and dragging her right hind leg. India said, “I’ve never seen anything like this before.” After seeing her cat struggle to walk, India said she panicked, brought her cat back to the vet, and rushed her into the back again. India said the staff reassured her that her cat was stable and that she could take the cat home. However, they allegedly said that they didn’t know why she was limping.

“I knew at this point that they were lying to me. I knew that they had hurt her in the back and they were too scared to tell me about it,” she alleged. A day later, the vet called to explain their findings on her cat.

“Apparently, the blood work came back and explained why my Percy was behaving this way. She has ‘acute arthritis,’ and she had the first flare-up of her entire life with absolutely no catalyst the day I brought her into the vet,” India alleged. But then, the vet allegedly corrected herself and confessed to pulling the cat’s legs “farther than what, maybe, was comfortable for her.” To top it all off, India claimed the vet tried selling her monthly arthritis shots.

She didn’t believe the vet’s explanation and took her cat to a different clinic. India said that the other vet told her that her cat’s leg had been twisted and pulled out of its socket.

“Hurting my cat and then lying to me about it puts it in the animal abuse category,” India alleged. It’s unclear if her cat’s leg has already been fixed. But India is lucky compared to another cat owner, whose pet died because the vet allegedly prioritized $700 over treatment.
