‘My Pets Are My Children’: FedEx Driver Accused of Deliberately Throwing Heavy Packages at Pets Is Called Out Online
Footage of a FedEx driver allegedly throwing heavy packages at pets sitting on a porch has gone viral online as people demand the man be held accountable. The footage shows two separate incidents in which the man appears to deliberately aim for the dogs and cats. The video even caught the attention of linebacker and social media influencer Caden McDonald.
The upsetting footage, which came days after clips of a mail courier attacking a peacock in California, gained widespread attention online after the Texas-based social media influencer shared the video with his four million followers. McDonald also gave his own thoughts on the matter, calling out the delivery man and writing in the caption, “My pets are my children, I don’t play about them at all.”
In the video, the FedEx driver is seen hurling heavy packages of Chewy brand pet food in the direction of the pets lounging on the porch. In the first clip, the package lands directly in front of a white dog, which appears to startle the animal as it jumps up.
The second clip shows another Chewy package being thrown at cats on the same porch. As it lands, the cats scatter. The man is then seen taking a photo of the package before trudging back across the lawn.
McDonald called out the delivery man, “I’d like to have a word with the guy,” and presumably added as a joke, “in a closed dark alley, alone.” He also joked that the pet food company Chewy would send out “an automated hitman” to “take care of this.”
McDonald’s feelings are somewhat understandable, and his followers mostly agreed with his take on the situation. “That food is HEAVY!!! Why on earth would he do that?!?!” asked one commenter on Instagram.
FedEx gets called out
Caden’s video quickly received over six million views, with many commenting their thoughts on the matter. “Oh please deliver to my house… I just wanna talk!” quipped one person. “The WAY I would be waiting for him behind the door on the next delivery with a package for him too!” wrote another.
Plenty more were quick to offer scathing criticisms of FedEx as a service: “Its always fedex… theres a reason why they are always cheapest option,” reads one comment. Another tagged the FedEx Instagram account, asking them, “are you aware of this? I imagine a large part of your business is chewy orders…”
One person also called on Chewy to stop using FedEx for delivering its product and switch to UPS instead, as they have an “unofficial Facebook page dedicated to taking cute selfies with dogs and other pets.”
Neither Chewy nor FedEx has addressed the delivery man’s alleged actions, although it’s not clear whether either company is aware of the situation.
