‘Hail Megatron’: His boss thought their business was under attack on Google Reviews, but they were all five stars

Joe (@just_joe_is_fine), a content creator, shared how he negotiated his raise through Google Reviews. It’s all thanks to his TikTok following.
“My boss called me 37 times last night. Must have been an emergency. I wouldn’t know, because I didn’t answer,” Joe prefaced his story. When he got to work in the morning, his boss allegedly confronted him about not responding to the calls.
“I was busy. I was setting boundaries,” he replied. Either way, Joe said he got called into his boss’s office. His boss told him that their company was under attack. He joked, “At this point, I’m clocked in, so I walk slow as f*** because I’m paid by the hour.” His friend, Jovan, didn’t seem bothered by the boss’s frantic behavior, so Joe assumed it was no big deal.
His boss asked him if he was familiar with a cyberattack and explained that their page received “hundreds of Google Reviews.” Joe asked what the reviews were about and if they were negative, one-star reviews. One local business from Florida faced alleged review bombing on Google Reviews by a Nissan dealership but countered it after their story went viral on social media. Joe’s case, however, is the opposite.
“They’re all five-star reviews, and they all mention your name,” his boss supposedly said. The reviews described Joe as a “great person,” but then the comments progressively got weirder. Regardless, Joe brushed it off and said, “It sounds like maybe you should think about giving me a raise.”
Weirdest Google Reviews
His boss started reading some of the reviews. One relatively normal review reads, “Joe is the glue that holds the company together.” Then, his boss pointed out a five-star review that consisted purely of sheep emojis. Another strange one said, “Hail Megatron.” While Joe is certainly not a Transformer, he still got the job done by bringing in sterling reviews for his company.
But just as the emojis and the Megatron comment seemed some of the weirdest among the bunch, other strangers started talking about Joe as if he were a life-changing force. One commenter said, “Joe taught me how to love again.” To pile in on the joke, another allegedly wrote, “Joe taught my wife how to love again.” Another person joined the chain and said, “Joe taught me how to love my wife again, and he watched.”
Joe, unfazed, said, “Are you inquiring about my services? Because those are some amazing testimonials.” His boss then accused him of “using his social media presence” to get his followers to write Google Reviews about him on the company page. Joe disagreed, saying, “Have you been to the comment section of any of my videos? These guys are absolute chaos. They are unmanageable.”
Nevertheless, his boss continued to assert that Joe was capable of banding his followers to write the doctored Google Reviews. Regardless, Joe said, “Sounds like I deserve a raise.” His boss supposedly told him he was being fraudulent and that he would have to report all of the Google Reviews.
“You’re really going to report a bunch of five-star reviews and try to have them taken down? That’s ridiculous. They’re not one-star reviews. But they could be,” Joe said in a thinly veiled threat. He said he got a raise, but how could he not get one if the only boss he answers to is himself? Joe confirmed that his account is mostly satire, which probably means nobody should try his method unless getting fired is the goal.
