Mr. Wizard Is a Condescending Jerk and It’s Great

Mr. Wizard was a wonderful science educator who had a real gift for finding science in everyday life and bringing big topics to life with small, unintimidating lessons that helped many of us find excitement in the ordinary and wonder in the mundane. He was also kind of a condescending jerk to the kids who came on his show. We’re reminded of this in the latest volume of Mr. Wizard’s a Dick videos from Diane Bullock and Mike Schuster, in which Don Herbert treats a number of kids like they’re simpletons, makes a small girl clutch a clearly uncomfortable snowball for 20 seconds, and, for good measure, is mean to a robot and some bear cubs.
