Mortal Kombat X Game Details Come With Preorder Availability and Box Art

Really, though, we all just want to rip people's spines out with next-gen graphics, right?

So far, we’ve only gotten a glimpse of what Mortal Kombat X has up its sleeves (aside from deadly spears and the severed spines of its enemies), but it was enough to get us speculating about what the game might be like. Now, we’ve got some details alongside its preorder release.

It sounds like they’re either implementing some kind of stance system (where a character can switch between sets of available moves based on what “stance” they’re in) or at least an ability to select different versions of a character on the select screen. The official site says:

Mortal Kombat X combines unparalleled, cinematic presentation with all new gameplay to deliver the most brutal Kombat experience ever. For the first time ever, Mortal Kombat X gives players the ability to choose from multiple variations of each character impacting both strategy and fighting style.

It’s hard to say at this point, but it sounds like they’re talking about allowing players to select entirely different versions of characters at the character screen. I hope that’s how it turns out, because it’d be awesome to be able to select classic versions of characters from past games instead of just different fighting styles. Whatever the case, they’re also making a play to let us feel like we’re really in a worldwide competition to the death with the online play:

And with a new fully-connected gameplay experience, players are launched into a persistent online contest where every fight matters in a global battle for supremacy.

For any more information than that, you’ve got a mercifully short wait, because E3 will flow red with the bloodā€”so, so much bloodā€”of your enemies next week when the game is shown off in full. While you wait, you can head over to the Mortal Kombat site to take your pick of preorder retailer.
