Man in charge of family ofrenda dug up great-grandparents' drama by commemorating ex-boyfriends and a mistress in their memorial: 'He was a dog'

Many families around the world celebrate the Day of the Dead to commemorate their deceased loved ones. Adrian (@adrian__peru) oversaw the family ofrenda for his great-grandmother and great-grandfather, adding a twist by also commemorating his grandmother’s ex-lovers and his grandfather’s mistress.

“Oh, we’re going to remember a lot, because my great-grandma always had a bad rep, because she was always grumpy. But this ‘sweet’ great-grandpa was always a cheater,” he alleged on Instagram. He said the only photo they had of his great-grandpa from when he was young was one that coincidentally burned. It was partially damaged, but the photo shows his great-grandfather in a white shirt, holding a beer bottle.

He said that while he was at his grandmother’s house, Adrian found a photo of another young woman leaning beside a man in a white shirt, who was also holding a beer bottle. Adrian speculated that the burnt photo was once attached to the one with the woman, and believed that she was one of his mistresses. He continued, “Oh yeah, we’re remembering you too, lady. I don’t know who you are, but s*** about to get interesting here.”

His great-grandfather got a lot of flak at the ofrenda

Adrian said his grandparents were married for 80 years. But unlike this couple from New York City who have been together for five decades and are still holding hands, Adrian alleged his great-grandfather was unfaithful to his great-grandmother. Adrian also pulled out photos of his grandmother’s exes and placed them beside her photo.

“Grandma’s first boyfriend before she met him,” Adrian said, placing the frame on the left side of his great-grandma. He commented that the man looked ‘sweet,’ but he wasn’t the only ex placed at the ofrenda. Adrian added his great-grandma’s second ex-boyfriend to the fray.

“I did my research, and I got some offerings for them,” Adrian added. He placed a single rose on his great-grandma’s side, and Adrian said it was on behalf of the first boyfriend. Then, he also placed knitting needles because his great-grandma used to love knitting. But then, he placed dog treats and a toy spider on his great-grandfather’s side.

“Some dog treats, ‘cause he was a dog,” Adrian said. Although he said he never met his grandfather, Adrian claimed he died from a spider bite. He placed a toy spider on his great-grandpa’s side to reference the incident. To top it all off, Adrian even placed one slipper on his great-grandma’s side, telling her spirit that she could do “whatever” she wants with it, implying that she could use it to hit him in the afterlife.

His family didn’t approve

“We remembering everything. Let’s talk about it. What happened here?” Adrian said the ofrenda would stay up for a month. The clip went viral, with some social media users poking fun at the ofrenda. One commenter said the drama was comparable to what happens in the popular dating show, Love Island. But while many were amused by Adrian’s post, he later posted an update with the caption: “Fam said this is the last time I’m doing the family ofrenda.”

Adrian has updated the ofrenda by adding singers Selena, Vicente Fernández, and Elvis Presley to her great-grandma’s side. He hoped the deceased singers would visit their ofrenda and provide entertainment in the afterlife.

“I had to be the one to make great-grandpa look sad, but hey, she was sad all her life,” Adrian said. Although his family didn’t approve of the additions to the ofrenda, Adrian insisted the exes and mistress stay on the table. But while Adrian got revenge for his great-grandma, another woman from South Carolina took matters into her own hands, busted her cheating husband, and got an ankle monitor for it.
