Interstellar Almost Had A Different Ending That Was Way Less Mushy

Interstellar-Jessica-ChastainWe’ve hashed out the end of Interstellar plenty, but what if that ending had been different? Turns out the ending the film had before Christopher Nolan stepped in to make everything a whole lot less depressing and a lot less straightforward

This comes from Jonathan Nolan, who wrote the original draft of the script. As he said at a media event this week to promote the film’s Blu-Ray release (and as was reported by a Nerdist writer in the audience) in his draft “the Einstien-Rosen bridge [colloquially, a wormhole] collapse[s] when Cooper tries to send the data back.”

That’s pretty terrible news for Anne Hathaway’s character and for Murphy’s relationship with her father,  but might have left a lot fewer people confused.

What do you think of this alternate ending?
