If you were wondering why all the Harry Potter fans you knew were weepy messes yesterday, this would be why. At the end of the livestream of the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2 London premiere yesterday, the main cast and creators of the franchise stood in front of the 18,000+ fans gathered in the square and talked about what the series has meant to them. Given her turn, Emma Watson burst into tears upon thanking Jo Rowling for everything she’s done, and it’s all an emotional whirlwind from there. Rupert Grint thanks everyone for providing him with the best half of his lifetime (as well as for what JKR’s done for gingers everywhere). But Jo ends the clip in the best possible way, saying that “The stories we love best do live in us forever. So whether you come back by page or by screen, Hogwarts will always be there to welcome you home.”
