[UPDATED] Clark Gregg Shares Thoughts About Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D Season 3 Future, Plus Movie Tie-Ins and Secret Warriors

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D ended on one hell of a cliffhanger. Full stop. So it’s completely understandable that when HeyUGuys asked about the show’s upcoming third season, Clark Gregg tried to share what he knew, even though he himself was in the dark about what was actually going to happen.

On season 3, Gregg said:

I guess what I can say is what I know from the end of season 2. The rogue element of the Inhumans is more or less defeated, and it seems like Coulson is trying to bring his beloved Skye, who is more or less fully realized as Quake, into a new super secret team of powered agents. [This] very much sounds like something that I know from the comics as Secret Warriors.

He continued, explaining how season 3 will continue the Agents trend of adding context and background to the upcoming Marvel movies, specifically Captain America: Civil War.

[Secret Warriors] is a really cool kind of… rogue, quiet part of S.H.I.E.L.D. that gets very involved in some of the goings on that happen around Civil War, which is the Captain America 3 film that’s shooting right now, which is a truly great chapter in Marvel Comics.

And because you can’t really bring up the show without bringing up its psychotic rogue agent Ward, Gregg had this to share about him:

I know there are certain people who are fans, who are really still holding out hope for a dream honeymoon for he and Skye. Brett Dalton plays that guy with this kind of brokenhearted menace, where you just keep rooting for him to find a way, but it’s hard to say. He really seems to be more psychotic than he realizes.

Brokenhearted menace,” indeed. Either way, after how the last season ended, you can bet we’ll be ready and waiting to see just what the hell happened to [redacted] and why [redacted] decided to [redacted] and seriously [redacted] [redacted] [reacted] quacking [readacted]?!

[UPDATE]: According to Variety, not long after this interview, the Secret Warriors were confirmed for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D‘s third season. Gregg, you prophetic mastermind, you.
