We just got a cast list and the glorious teaser image above for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, but that’s not the end of the sequel news. Director James Gunn has confirmed the rumored on-screen identity of one of those new cast members.
Yes, actor Pom Klementieff will play Mantis in the 2017 followup to GotG:

Mantis adds another female character to the team complete with martial arts skills, telepathic powers, and … um, a thing for plants.
As our good friend Susana Polo points out, Gunn prefers to keep Peter Quill/Star Lord the only human character in the movies, so expect liberties to be taken with Mantis’s backstory (and who knows what abilities she’ll actually carry over) if you’re a comics fan. If not, you probably won’t be all that surprised by an alien woman with green skin and antennae in a GotG movie.
