Fan’s Playable HD Legend of Zelda Temple Makes the Wait for Nintendo’s Next Zelda Excruciating

HEY! ... Listen.

Hey, remember that nifty video we showed you a while back of the Temple of Time from Zelda: Ocarina of Time recreated in Unreal Engine 4? Well, this one might not have quite the level of updating that the other one went through, but it does have the added bonus of being playable and not just pretty art (there’s a download link in the YouTube description), so we can all drool over the possibilities if Nintendo decided to go this direction with HD Zelda.

Unfortunately, we have no idea what’s going on with the next official Zelda title. A year and a half ago, it was shown off at E3 2014 in playable form, and it looked pretty good, though still sticking to the series’ modern, brighter aesthetic than anything found in Ocarina of Time or Majora’s Mask. Then, the game was totally absent from E3 2015, and we were told that Nintendo would be ready to talk about new hardware at E3 2016.

As ominous as that sounded, the company also mentioned that we would still see Zelda come to the Wii U, but at this point, with the “NX” rumored for possible holiday 2016 release, it seems really unlikely that the Wii U will be its primary platform—if they turn out to be telling the truth at all. Only time will tell. If only we had some way of traveling through it … (Or we could use the Lens of Truth.)
